                                                        Preface

Have you ever felt that why is this world right handed? and why are only few people left-handed? when we have two of our hands what is making all of us to use right hand more than left hand? is there any rule like that? if you had such questions and you need answers this book is the right thing you have got. Right from my childhood I was greatly fascinated by the people who are left handed. I use to watch them carefully and use to notice how they managed to write with their left hand. The early days of my school i.e. when i was in my 6th standard my teacher gave me an impression that left handers can't write neatly, I've seen left handers writing in many ways & I always found them interesting. Even I use to practice writing with my left hand. I always had a thought when there are two different legs, eyes & ears why are we distinguished by handedness? why aren't people left or right eyed?.

After many years I finally sat before my laptop and started my small research. I found many answers, some of them were of no use and others were amazing, I had to go deep into many scientific journals, and by this I was even more bewildered, the questions in my mind were increasing and the answers for those increasing questions were not found so easily. Handedness links to many other factors. This will take you back to the evolution and will connect to the future, but the answers what I found are supposed to be applicable universally, but I had a doubt that were those answers up to their mark in India. So I decided to make few case studies of my friends. Their habits and their behaviours were examined the results what I found were interesting. They did not exactly match with the information which I got from internet, they seemed to be slightly different. My understanding of this phenomenon which is responsible for deviation is clearly written in the coming chapters.

I realised that there are many facts about handedness, these facts were so fascinating that they made me write this book which contains many things that we do everyday using our specific hands but don't realise them . LEFT vs Right is a part of your daily life. After reading this book one will realise that how he or she is right-handed or left-handed, right eyed or left eyed, left-eared or right-eared, & right- footed or left-footed from his/her experience. Giving more preference to left-handers to read this book the title has left in capitals. The facts about left-handers are are often given down in italicized texts.

In this book you will find details about handedness, reasons for it from historical and biological point of views, Life of left handers, patterns of their brains, facts about left handers & finally my supportive case studies. Although I gave most of the information in the book, I encourage people to be more inquisitive thus I gave many links to the websites for the readers in the relevant topics which allows them to gain knowledge specifically about those topics and make sure you do not miss the great trick to improve your creativity. You could be the one to experience the things which are written in this book so just give it a try.

                                                     INTRODUCTION

Nearly 400 million years were spent to create us & craft our precious hands now the most puzzling part is that 99% of us end up being good with only one hand but not the other for common tasks(either left or right). There are only 1% people who really are AMBIDEXTROUS (person who is good with both of the hands) one may think that 1% is just a myth, but ambidextrous people do exist. The common tasks which were mentioned generally include writing, balancing, one hand texting & etc. Both of our hands seem to be fully capable as they are equally developed and connected to fully functional arms. So one can expect an even split but they are actually not. When it comes to which hand we prefer in humans the probability of one being a right hander is very huge than one being a left hander but where as in animal kingdom its actually 50/50 you can test it by offering dogs your hand for a hifi to a dog or a cat and even your pet bird.
