WHY ARE LEFTIES CREATIVE?
Most of the lefties are highly successful personalities . Left handers are more likely to be on extreme poles of the intelligence scale. Albert Einstein, Bill gates, Oprah Winfrey, Obama, Bill clinton, Morgan Freeman, Ben stiller, Celine Dion, Eminem, Angelina Jolie, lady gaga, Nicole Kidman, Seth Rogan, Owen Wilson etc are lefties. It is proven to some extent with a little evidences that they are more creative and intelligent. There have been lots of suggestions of left-handers' increased creativity, but there is very little firm evidence on this. Increased musical abilities are another often-cited skill that left-handers might possess. Chris McManus calls that left handers have random cerebral variation. Their brains are just more shuffled up so this might lead more unexpected connections between the different parts of the brain i.e right and left hemispheres of the brain and they may be cause for more creativity. In fact, the brain hemispheres of left-handers tend to be much more symmetrical and balanced than those of right-handers, and the differences between the hemispheres are less pronounced. Human brain ranks among the most sophisticated structures in the world containing 100 billion neurons(i.e 16 times of the number of people on earth) and 100,000 miles of blood vessels. It weighs around 2% of your body's weight but takes around 20% of body's energy and oxygen. It consumes about 23 watts of power, while you are awake. More electrical impulses are generated in human body than by all the telephones in the world. It is estimated that you have 70,000 thoughts a day. For a funny comparison, if your brain worked like a digital video recorder on a television, 2.5 petabytes would be enough to hold 3 million hours of T.V show. You would have to leave your T.V running continuously for more than 300 years to use up all that stored energy.
" Left handers are less able to roll their tongue than a right handers"
Let us take an example of Einstein's brain, now that we know Einstein was more creative and intellectual, people have removed his brain 8 hours after he is dead and have seen through it to chase the mystery of his intellect. Surprisingly Albert Einstein's brain weighed only 1230 grams, which is significantly less than weight of average humans brain which is 1300 to 1400 grams. The answer for his creativity and intellect was the CORPUS CALLOSUM. It is broad band of nervous fibres joining the two hemispheres of the brain. Strong callosum i.e. the callosum which is more active and and better the connections between two hemispheres then the functioning of brain is more effective. Corpus callosum divides the cerebral cortex lobes into left & right hemispheres. It transfers motor, sensory & cognitive information between the two hemispheres. It is bodies largest bundle of nerves or neural fibres. The things you do are control by different parts of the brain. Einsteins corpus callosum had extremely thick connections between three very interesting brain regions prefrontal cortex which controls abstract thinking & decision making, his lobe which controls sense and motor functions & visual cortex. So how to improve your brain's connections and thus improve your creativity?. You have to do certain activities which will keep your corpus callosum active i.e you you have to work a lot with your other hand and thus make your other part and corpus callosum active. Multiple studies showed that musicians tend to use their two sides of brain more and you know Einstein was a good violin player so take its better if you take some lessons of violin, piano etc. Juggling can make your brain really sharp so try to juggle atleast with three objects. You can use your non dominant hand for your basic and daily activities i.e if you are right handed use your left hand for all of your daily activities at least twice a week when u have some time for yourself like brushing with left hand, typing even you can practice sports. Logic and math puzzles are good because number estimates and comparisons use both sides of your brain. If you are terrible at them like me then you got to work out. Try to flip your desk over with your non dominant hand. But by doing all this no one can say on that you will become Einstein, but you surely can improve your connections and make your brain more creative.
