Reen's Diary:

Dear diary,

Some lucky kid is getting adopted today. They're only lucky because it gets them out of here. Sometimes temporarily, sometimes permanently.

It won't be me of course. It's never me. If the workers really wanted to get rid of me they'd let me out more. I must look sick. I spend all day in here or sitting in a classroom. Possible parents always judge because of that.
They say I should just try smiling. We both know that won't actually fix anything.

My only friends here, Erik and Dan are hiding again,  they hate the thought of being separated by adoption. I guess that's the only reason we're friends. They're not going anywhere and nor am I. Everyone else comes and goes. We stick around. Nobody wants any of us.
It's worse for them though, at least my birth family wanted me. They're just dead.
Their parents kicked them out. I shouldn't go into it any further incase someone finds this diary. It's their private business what happened.

The other kids are mostly pretending to be perfect little angels today. If I was more like them I'd be gone already.
There's one other kid like me, trying to get adopted but nobody will take him, Max. But he's clearly been drinking. I can see it from here. It's bad enough he smokes and stinks up the entire sleeping area. But does he have to come to adoption drunk?

I don't like him drinking for two reasons, neither is because I like him.
One: If the workers notice they'll search our rooms for anything we should have. For me that means I'll lose my only form of entertainment.
Two: My parents were killed by a drunk driver and my brother drank too much and accidentally overdosed on his sleeping pills because he couldn't tell how many he had taken.

The pair looking to adopt are different from the pairs we usually get. There's no woman. There's one adult male and a little kid. Clearly younger than me by a few years. They seem distressed about something. What does a spoiled brat like that have to be upset about? They keep staring over in my direction. Probably interested in Isabelle, the girl next to me. The man looks down at the kid and seems frustrated by the kid not saying anything then he looks over here too and says something to the child. They smile enthusiastically and the man looks down at them with even more love than before. A determination to do anything for them.

That kid has everything I lost. My loving parents were taken from me and this brat had a father like this and thought they could complain about anything?
I wanted to punch them

After studying whoever he was looking at for a while longer he wandered off to talk to the worker. The small child followed behind him. Attached to him almost. I noticed they had an iPod in their back pocket. Most kids would have to beg for one of those for ages. Considering this little shit wouldn't even talk now I bet they showed a slight interest in it and got it.

It seems they can get what ever they want..For me that's not possible. All I want is my life back.

However they did it they've clearly picked someone to adopt.

Then the worker tapped me, Erik and Dan on the shoulder and told us to pack our bags.

They adopted all three of us?! At least I get out of here.
