You grew up knowing Hanamiya your whole life. Both your mothers were best friends and that was how you met him. He was a year older and was always smarter than the rest of the kids in class. Although he wasn't as social as you, you two managed to be quite close. But when high school came, you moved into Kyoto and was attending Rakuzan High School while Hanamiya attended Kirisaki Daichi High School. You found out from your mother that Hanamiya was the star player in the boys basketball team and decided to attend his game that was held against Seirin High.

From the seats high above, you could see the whole court in one view. Hanamiya still looked the same just taller and he gained a lot more muscles. You slightly chuckled to yourself as you saw him talk with his team members before the game started. As the referee blew the whistle, the starting line headed towards the center and the game soon began.

"Woah, I never realized how good Makoto-kun was at basketball," you whispered and watch in amazement as he stole the ball and manage to make shots. You were enjoying the game until you felt something was off. From your seat you could see that he was giving some sort of signal and just right after the other team's center was hurt. You widened your eyes in shock and looked at Hanamiya who only had a face of pleasure.

This wasn't the Hanamiya you grew up with. Why was he hurting the other players in the referee's blind spot? This is not basketball. You were surprised you managed to watch the whole game. It ended with Kirisaki Daichi losing and Seirin taking the win. You got out of your seat and headed towards where Kirisaki Daichi's team was at. You found the room but Hanamiya wasn't in there.

"You have some nice legs," the team member with his light purple long hair mentioned before moving towards you. "Why don't you wait here for Hanamiya to come back?"

"I-It's okay," you backed away. "I-I'll go look for him-."

Before you could leave the room, the guy grabbed a hold of you and popped the bubble gum that was in his mouth.

"Oh come on, just a few minutes," he mentioned before pulling you closer towards him. "I like girls with pretty legs."

"Let me go!" you pushed him off and lost balanced. You fell backwards and landed on the floor.

"Oi! How many times do I have to remind you that you can play with girls after our games?" you recognized that voice. You quickly turned around and widened your eyes, "Makoto-kun!"

Hanamiya furrowed his brows at you before widening his eyes as well, "(F/N)?"

You quickly got up and headed towards him and before you knew it, your hand flew across his cheek.

"What on earth do you think you're doing out there on that court?!" you glared at him. "What kind of play is that?"

His hand held his bruised cheek, but instead of feeling any guilt, Hanamiya just laughed.

"What's so funny?" you curled your fists. "Makoto-kun, you were never like this. What happened to you?"

He stopped laughing after hearing that, and glared at you.

"I like seeing people cry in pain," he mumbled as he moved his face closer to yours and held your chin. "Now, if I were you (F/N), I'd leave before things gets nasty."

You pushed him away and glared at him.

"This isn't like you at all Makoto-kun," you backed away. "You deserve that loss. Someone with that kind of intention would never win. I regret coming here today to see you. "

And with that you ran out of the room. The Hanamiya you knew has changed into someone you hardly would even recognize. You were about to reach the exit door of the stadium when a hand grabbed your wrist and spun you around. Your face landed on a heaving chest and a pair of strong arms wrapped around you.

"D-don't leave," he mumbled. "Don't leave, (F/N)."

You struggled to get free from his grip but it was no use.

"I-I," he was stuttering, something that was uncommon for him to do. "I'm sorry."

You scoffed pushing him off and shook your head, "I'm not the one you need to apologize to!"

He held his head and sighed, "I guess I was so used to (F/N) around that I never really knew what to do without you. I turned and all I see are faces that are always surrounded by friends and there was me. Alone. And since then I have grew to hate those who enjoys each other's comfort. Teams that play with friendship makes me feel disgusted-"

"Stop feeling like that," you said. "What will you get out of it? Does it make you happy to see that you've hurt someone so much? Imagine if it was me. Would you still do that?"

"(F/N)..." Hanamiya mumbled and slowly shook his head. "I would never hurt you."

"I know you're smarter than this, Makoto-kun," you mentioned and grabbed one of his hands. "You're not mean. You don't find pleasure in hurting people. You are Makoto. You like to smile at simple things like receiving a gift or when I would do something stupid you'd laugh with that unique laughter of yours."

He slowly hung his head and apologized under his breath. You shook your head, "You can work your way back up, because I'm here. I'm right beside you so don't worry. I promised you I wouldn't leave you hanging right?"

His lips that had never shown a smile in years, had slowly curved up. You nodded your head and headed back towards the team rooms.

"Now the first step into being a good person is apologizing to Seirin High School's team," you mentioned. Hanamiya widened his eyes and refused to be dragged.

"Of all teams, not them!" he frowned upon hearing your words. You only crossed your arm and continue to drag him towards the group of boys dressed in the white, red, and black basketball jersey.
