Tanner walked slowly from the table a dreamy look in his eyes that I have never seen before. I watched him until he turned the corner and disappeared down the hallway.
I looked back to where the girl had been then down at my plate which no longer seemed appetizing.
Was it really her?
Lia... the one I grew up with?
Lia was it really you?
FLASHBACK
"Mommy!Mommy!Mommy! Look!"
"What a cute little hat my dear." she exclaimed, her eyes glowing with pride.
"Lia!" My mother yelled sharply little feet pitter pattered down the hallway towards us.
"Yes?" A small voice asked and a small blonde girl stepped into the light
"Have you finished all of your chores?" She asked examining the girl up and down.
"Well.... I- umm-er.."
"Spit it out Girl! I don't have all day!" She said raising her voice.
Lia shook her head her eyes full of fear
"Well you better get a move on you don't want a repeat of yesterday do you?"
Again she shook her head and ran back down the hallway to where she had come.
I will do this.
Just for Tanner.
Just for him.
I will do anything for him.
Even take a BULLET for him.
