Unanticipated Plans

Chapter 2

Brittany and Tom decided that they would meet in Boston in three days. That gave them enough time to see things between Ohio which is where they were now and Massachusetts before they met up. They exchanged phone numbers, both wondering what they were getting themselves into.

Brittany left with her coworkers in a cab while Tom walked back to his hotel. His thoughts were filled with his upcoming plans. When he got back to his hotel, he packed what he had and planned to buy what he didn't. He showered then laid in bed planning his route to Boston. There were a few places he wanted to stop at along the way. It would be a ten hour drive from Cleveland to Boston. He wanted to stop in Niagara Falls, and New Haven, Connecticut, and Providence, Rhode Island. He figured if he left first thing in the morning he could get to Niagara Falls by lunch then drive to New Haven later that same day. He would spend half a day in New Haven, and then drive to Providence then depending on how much he wanted to see would depend on whether he would go to Boston that night or the next morning. After being satisfied with his plan he laid in bedding thinking about Brittany. This has been an interesting turn of events, he thought. Earlier in the evening he had been feeling lonely and sorry for himself. Now he was on an adventure and not completely alone. He smiled as he drifted off to sleep.

He woke up the next morning around six. He rented a car from the hotel then checked out. As he was waiting for the car to be brought to him, Chris swayed out of the elevator and into the lobby. "Oh man, you don't look too good my brother."

Chris looked up at him, "Too much to drink last night," he replied smiling. "What are you doing down here so early?"

"Ah, I've rented a car and will be sightseeing for a little bit."

"You aren't going home?" Chris sat down on the chair adjacent to the couch Tom was waiting on.

"No, I just figured while I have the time I should do some sightseeing."

"That sounds great man. Where are you going?"

"Anywhere I want." Tom said, smiling broadly. He felt free and happy thinking about this adventure he was about to embark on.

"Mr. Hiddleston? Your car is here sir." Tom looked up at the man holding the keys out to him.

"Thank you." Tom took the keys then stood. Chris followed suit.

"Have fun brother. I'll see you on the other side." Chris said as they hugged and parted ways.

Tom got in the car, set the GPS and began his journey.

He thought about Brittany even more. The shyness she portrayed yet being so forward to meeting him in Boston, he didn't know what to make of it. He thought she was very attractive but there was something more other than just the physical, something deeper. He brushed the thoughts aside, turned on his radio and listened to old school AC/DC as he drove down the highway.

Brittany had only been on the road an hour when she started second guessing her decision to meet this stranger for the third time. No matter who he was or how famous he was, she still didn't know him. What was she thinking? She thought about pulling over to text him that she has had a change of plans but something deep down kept her from doing so. He had swarmed her thoughts the moment she laid eyes on him last night. She didn't know who he was when she saw him but knew he did something to her, something she didn't quite understand. She remembered how his beautiful blue-green eyes reflected the lights in the bar, making it look like his eyes and his alone were illuminating the room. His smile was engaging and contagious. When her coworker Brad noticed him and began engaging the group about him her interest only grew. She remembered the movie Thor and even remembered Loki. She had liked the movie. She found it very intriguing that she caught him looking at her. It was interesting that he was so relaxed with them after they intruded on him. He was warm and open. She envied that and wondered if that was what she found to be so attractive about him. She smiled and pushed on the gas petal sending her questioning thoughts away.
