Chapter 3: Into Sol's Kingdom

.

.

The following day was surprisingly normal. I woke up with my usual mess of a bed hair and Grandma greeted me with a plate of good cookies. I gobbled them up with a glass of chocolate milk, exchanging stories with her about the weird sights I caught around town from yesterday's delivery. She laughed whole-heartedly and I smiled.

The moment I set the glass down on the table, a knock on the door resounded, and I raised a brow at Grandma, "A costumer already?"

"No. It's about yesterday," She replied and strode to open it.

I groaned and mentally slapped myself. Here I was trying to forget the events that happened yesterday, courtesy of the Sol guards, but of course it wouldn't be erased that easily. Especially when I just yelled out the stupidest statement I have made in the past 17 years of my life.

"Yazune Moonevia," Came a stern voice from the doorway, and there stood a guard with neatly combed dark brown hair and heavy-rimmed glasses, holding a paper on one hand, "About your declaration yesterday,"

"Trust me, I'm stupid, so choices like that aren't-"

He didn't even let me finish whatever alibi I was making up before continuing to speak, "The Elders are glad that you have accepted it, and as such, you are subjected to be brought to the castle for your training,"

"What? No! You must be mistaken..!" I waved my arms infront of me in defence, "And what Training?! For what?!"

"Trained to be Young Master's fiance, of course," He readjusted his glasses and his purple-eyes glinted ominously, "And you are not allowed to withdraw for a certain time period, so please prepare your things. We will fetch you later at 9,"

The group marched off with the crowd of people making way for them and giving weird looks. I gave a weird look too, crossing my arms as I glared daggers that would've been enough to kill them if they weren't imaginary.

"Grandma.." I whined, looking at her with a pleading face, "Help me out..."

"I can't interfere with what the Elders say," True, anyone who goes against the rules and the words by the Elders were punished and sent to the Black Hole, a living dump of people left out to rot along with the corpses of the other rebels.

"But once the time limit is over, leave if you want. I'll be waiting," Her emerald eyes gleamed of hope and reassurance, and I felt it as well.

"Alright," I nodded and hugged her, "I'll make sure to get back,"

It was 8:30 when I got my belongings fixed. And by belongings, I mean standard stuffs that I know I would need in the castle they were referring to. I had a couple of my favorite clothes; my photo album of me and grandma, and the sceneries around Lune's Kingdom; and my sketchpad and drawing kit. Honestly, I didn't have that much things. I didn't bother to buy wants, because that's added expenses to my already cramped salary.

By 8:45, I was downstairs enjoying Grandma's presence. I watched her work around the small kitchen as she baked all sorts of bread, and I knew that I'll be missing this moment within that time limit I had in the castle. I was too caught up with sulking within the corners of my mind, that I didn't notice her come up infront of me.

"Here, for the trip going there," She handed me a rather large paper bag that smelled like my favorite cookies. I gratefully accepted them and held it on my lap instead of putting it in my bag.

And by 9:00, the guards came, with the same guy as their leader. He motioned for me to get into the chariot and I hesitated. Looking back, I saw Grandma give me a sad, but hopeful smile, and I smiled awkwardly back.
