"kenzie!" my mom yelled from down the stairs.  i slowly opened my eyes, squinting at the bright light.  it was my first day of school at sydney high school.  and of course, i haven't recovered from jet lag yet.

"i'm up!" i shouted back so she wouldn't keep bothering me.  i stepped out of my bed slowly, cringing as my feet hit the cold wooden floor.  as soon as i at least half awake, i stood up from my comfy bed and headed to my closet.

"of course, i have nothing to wear." i mumbled to myself.  my closet was full of skinny jeans and t shirts.  i grabbed a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a nirvana shirt, throwing them on my bed.

"i need music." i sighed.  i picked up my phone and pressed shuffle.  'colors' by halsey blasted through my speakers.  i walked to the bathroom to start my makeup and hair.

i paused in front of the mirror and stared at myself.  my blonde hair was in messy curls from the night before.  i had somewhat tan skin, but my face was clear.  so i put on a little concealer, mascara, and eyeliner.  my eyebrows were thick and shaped so i didn't have to fill them.

i threw my hair up in a messy ponytail and brushed the end out.  i then walked over to my bed and changed into my clothes.  right when i put on my combat boots my mom screamed my name.

"i'm coming!" i yelled back.  i took my phone out of my charger and grabbed my school bag.  i ran down the stairs and grabbed an apple.

"i'm leaving." i told my mom and grabbed my car keys.  i didn't know where i was going but i could find my way.  so i started my car and drove out of the neighborhood.

a few minutes later i arrived in front of a huge school.  the words 'sydney high' were printed on the front.  i parked in the junior parking lot.

"okay," i mumbled to myself again while stepping out of my car. "lets do this."

the school was huge.  students ran to their classes and yelled at each other from the hall.  it was loud with laughter.  a hand landed on my shoulder and i turned around in surprise.

a girl about my age stood in front of me.  her brown eyes stared into my green ones.  she smiled lightly as her brown hair fell in her face.

"hi, are you new?" she asked politely.  i shook my head slowly.  she stuck her hand out. "i'm avery."

"kenzie." i said and shook her hand.  she smiled again and fixed her hair.  she was gorgeous and i felt like trash beside her.

"let me show you to the office." she started walking and i followed her. "everyone's been super excited to meet you.  word spreads around fast here, and when we heard there's a new student we got excited.  here we are."

she opened a big wooden door with the words 'dean' on it.  a lady sat in a desk on a computer.

"ms. roberts, this is kenzie." avery spoke up.  ms. roberts looked up from her computer and smiled.  she shuffled around in her desk until she pulled out a few papers.

"it's so nice to meet you.  here's your schedule and locker number.  avery here will show you around." i picked up the papers and scanned over them.  great, i had maths first.

"oh my," avery muttered in surprise. "um, is there anyway she could switch maths, english, and study hall?"

"i don't believe so, ms. caden.  is there a problem?" ms. roberts asked.  avery shook her head quickly, muttered a 'thank you' and walked out with me following.

"what's wrong with my schedule?" i asked.  i didn't know why she wanted to change them.  i mean, i don't like maths first rotation but it isn't that big of a deal to change it.

"you have those classes with calum hood." she said as quietly as possible.  as if on cue, the students in the school cleared of the middle of the hallway and split to the walls.  a clear pathway was made and four boys walked through.  avery rushed me to my locker and we stood there quietly like everyone else, watching the boys.

they walked past us and a boy with brown hair and tattoos turned towards me, took his sunglasses off, and winked in my direction.  all of the girls around avery and i gasped and squealed.  the boys soon left the halls and the students returned to what they were doing.

"jesus christ." avery whispered.  she unlocked her locker which was luckily beside and i did the same.  i put my books but grabbed my maths book and binder.

"who were they?" i asked avery.  the bell soon rung, interrupting my question.  she shook her head quickly.

"i'll tell you at lunch!" she shouted as she ran towards her first class.  i sighed quietly and tried to find my way to maths.

kids crowded all around the halls, trying to get to their class.  i followed the map i was given and ended up in front of an open door.

i entered quickly with my head down.  sitting in the very back of the room, the teacher walked up to me.

"mackenzie stern?" she asked.  i nodded my head and looked up at her.  she nodded back and walked to her desk.  students flew into the room, not wanting to be tardy.  but the bell rang soon after causing everyone to sit.

"okay class, we have a new student here-" ms. cody was interrupted by the door flying open.  the same boy who winked at me earlier entered the class with a purple haired boy.

"mr. hood, mr.clifford," ms. cody sighed. "you're late, again."

the boys chuckled and walked to their seats without saying a word.  but with my luck, they were sitting right behind me.

"as i was saying," ms. cody started again. "we have a new student here.  ms. stern, please introduce yourself."

i stood up slowly and looked around the room.  i could feel the boys staring at my ass.

"uh, well my name's kenzie.  i moved here from england, and i'm not interesting." i chuckled to myself.  the class all turned around from staring at me once i was finished.  but i still felt eyes burning into my back.  i turned around and locked eyes with big brown ones, the same guy who winked at me.  or known to me as 'mr. hood'.
