Chapter 4 ~ Warning

*The next day*

*Melissa pov*

I wake up, and again, I feel like it was all just a dream. I never in my life thought that I would be able to date Eli. I have never been this excited for the school day! Today I actually get to show off my love for Eli, and everyone will know that he is mine, and mine forever. I get up and put on a light purple shirt with a gray jacket, and of course black leggings. We are not allowed to wear leggings to school, but Amelia does it all the time and never gets caught, so I tried to do it too, and it turns out that the principal doesn't even notice... I grab some toast and make my way to the bus stop. I hope that Eli is riding the bus again.

*Eli pov*

I sleep through my alarm and wake up super late! I quickly put on some jeans and an orange sweatshirt and rush out the door! I try to run to the bus stop but I missed it. I run back home and get in my car and speed to school. I usually just drive to school, but I know that Melissa still rides the bus to school sometimes, so I like to be with her on the bus. I can't stop thinking about yesterday. It was so amazing, I never thought I could get to be with an amazing girl like her, I really really like her. But while we kissed, I know that someone was watching us. I know Amelia was watching, but someone else was too... Another mermaid I think, I couldn't quite figure out the presence but I am sure it was Abby, she is a mermaid, and a tattle tale one too. If anyone ever did anything wrong she would always go tell the king, you could never trust her with anything. She spreads rumors faster than a harpoon could hit you. It's really annoying, and if she saw Lissa and I kissing, she must have told the king already. The king already hates me enough. After his wife was killed when the war happened, my father was also killed. So the King re-married to my mother. You would think he would treat me as one of his own, but no. He hates me, and my mom does nothing about it. Damn it, I should have been more careful.

*Melissa pov*

I get on the bus in hopes of seeing Eli, but I don't see him. I am a little disappointed, but I'm sure he was just late. After about 10 minuets the bus finally arrives to the school. I get off and see Eli and Amelia waiting for me by the doors. A smile spread across my face as I walk up to Eli and he gives me a big hug. When he wraps his arms around me I feel so safe, he let's go and lightly kisses me on the forehead. "Let's get to class beautiful." right then I could feel my heart melt, no one has ever said that to me. He makes me feel so loved.

"Ok" I say with a shy but extremely happy smile. We walk to class together hand in hand, trying to ignore the whispers and gossiping from all around us. We get to class to class and sit down next to each other. Amelia comes up to us and says, "How are my favorite love birds doing? "

"Pretty good," Eli says, giving me a kiss on the cheek, making me blush.

"Awe, you guys are so cute," Amelia says, just then Bruce comes up to us again and says, looks like you two are getting pretty close eh? Maybe I shoul-" he was interrupted by Amelia slapping him across the face, she is such a great friend. Sometimes she can be scary, but all in all she is just an awesome friend that always looks out for me.

"What he hell! You bitch!" Bruce shouts.

"Really? I'm the bitch? Fight me. Or are you to afraid to hit a girl?" She says mockingly. Bruce looks angry, he hurls a punch at Amelia, Eli and I both gasp. Amelia quickly grabs his hand and twists it so far that he falls over, whimpering like a baby. She is so badass. The bell rings and everyone rushes to their seat, Bruce gets up and slowly walks back to his desk.

*Skip to Lunch*

The bell rings and it's finally time for lunch. As we are walking to lunch my stomach makes a very loud grumble. My face goes red with embarrassment. Eli looks at me and says, "Haha are you hungry?" He says giggling.

"Uh- yea..." I say, while looking down at the floor. Eli lifts my chin up and gently kisses me on the lips, they taste like honey.

"You taste like honey." I say, Oh my god did I really just say that out loud!

"Haha that's because I had toast with honey on it darling."

"Oh" He called me darling, a feeling of warmth and happiness came over me... I really like this guy, a lot.

When we get to the cafeteria and sit down, I ask, "Hey Eli, are we going to hang out after school today?"

"I can't today babe, sorry." He said with a sorrowful look on his face.

"Oh, that's ok, maybe next time," I say with a small smile. I wish we could hang out today, but I understand, he probably has some merman meeting to go to or something.

*Eli pov*

I really wanted to hang out with Lissa today, but I need to see if Abby was watching us yesterday. Chances are she already told the king and he will be waiting for me when I get to the beach. I can't involve Lissa into it, its not her fault.

*Skip to the end of the day*

*Melissa pov*

The bell rang and we all rush out our lockers and start heading for the bus. Right before I walk out the door, Eli says, "Ill see you tomorrow princess," and kisses me softly. Princess, I like it.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow babe!" I say, as I walk out with Amelia and run to the bus. We push in front of everyone and get a good seat in the back. Amelia sits down first and I go and sit by her. I see Eli pull out of the parking lot and speed away. I wonder where he is going.

*Eli pov*

I quickly drive out of the parking lot and head for the beach, praying that Abby didn't see Lissa and I the other day... I get the beach and shift, then I jump in the Ocean and barely swim two feet before I already see Abby waiting for me, Damn it.

"Well well, look who it is, human lover." she says.

"Nice to see you too Abby."

"I saw you smoochin it up with some human girl yesterday? Who is she?" She says with a smirk.

"It's none of your concern Abby, just go away and don't be a gossip hound." I say, sounding very irritated. She looks at me with an offended face, but that face soon turns into pure satisfaction. Why does she look like that?

"Oh it's a little late for that." I knew Abby told, I knew it. That bitch. Suddenly the king appears with a few of his guards, and of course with my mother by his side. He crosses his arms, with a very disappointed look on his face. I bow my head, and look him in the eyes. I try to hide the fact that I am all tense and very anxious.

"Eli, is this true?"

"I-"

"ELI TELL ME THE TRUTH!" He screams, making violent waves above us.

"Y-yes sir, it is true..." There is a long pause before he sighs and says,

"We let you and Amelia co-exist with the humans, on one condition, you are to never form a special relationship with them! Do you remember what they did to us?! I demand you to break off your bond with her immediately, or there will be consequences. Understood?"

"Mother cant you-"

"SILENCE MY CHILD! YOUR KING IS SPEAKING! I will have no respect for a child that breaks the rules!" You already have no respect for me.

"I- I understand." They scowl at me and swim away. God I want to strangle Abby so bad, she looks at me with a stuck up look and swims away. Why can't I just be human?
