Chapter 3 ~ Love

*Monday*                                                                                                                                                                                     *Melissa pov*

I wake up and feel like everything that just happened yesterday was just a dream. Although I can tell it wasn't because my clothes are still wet, and my hair is still all salty. I get out of bed and hop in the shower. When I get out I put on a gray long sleeve shirt, and of course, black leggings. I just put my hair up in a pony tail and go upstairs to eat some breakfast, my mom made eggs and bacon. I eat all of my breakfast, then I go outside to catch the bus. After a few minuets of waiting for the bus, it was starting to get cold. I remember that Eli gave me his sweatshirt, I dig it out of my bag and put it on, it smells like heaven. Finally the bus arrives, I quickly get on the bus, and I see Eli in a seat! He doesn't live around here, why is he here? He looks up at me and beckons me over to his seat. I am almost at his seat, then the bus starts moving! I immediately fall onto him, my face is bight red as I try to sit myself upwards, he laughs, then picks me up and sits me down next to him. "I-um- I'm sorry.." I say, very embarrassed.

"It's Alright Lissa,"

"Lissa?"

"Yea, can I call you Lissa?"

"Yea sure," I say giggling and blushing.

"Hey I see you are wearing my sweatshirt this morning." He says

"Yea, do you want it back?"

"No, keep it." He says with a smile.

After about 10 more minuets of small talk, we finally arrive at the school. Eli and I get off the bus and get to class. Amelia is waiting for me at the doorway, "Oh my gosh did you sit next to Eli on the bus?!"

"Yep! It was amazing, but really embarrassing too." I tell her the whole story.

"Oh my god that would be embarrassing! But hey! At least you got to sit by him!"

"Yea haha I guess so."

*Skip to lunch*

The bell just rang and it's time for lunch. Amelia and I sit at a table in the middle of the cafeteria, then Eli comes and sits next to me. I didn't think he would sit by me, but I'm so glad he did! Amelia pulls out a tuna sandwich and takes a bite, and I say, "Hey, aren't you eating your friends?" Eli lost it and started laughing really hard, and Amelia almost spit out her food she was laughing so hard. "Ahahahaha no Melissa, I'm not eating my friends, we can't talk to fish," Amelia says, barely able to finish a sentence because she was laughing so hard. "Haha Lissa you are so funny," Eli says,

"Haha thanks." I say smiling.

"Hey Lissa do you want to hang out at the beach after school? Amelia will probably be there to."

"Yes I would love to!" I say with a really excited look on my face. The bell rings and we make our way back to class, I am walking really close to Eli, and he was about to grab my hand, but suddenly Bruce squeezes between us and stops us, he looks at me and says, "Hey slut looks like you have a new victim!" Ever since I rejected him last year, he has always been out to ruin my relationships.

"I am not a slut Bruce, and he's not my "victim." So why don't you jus-" Right when I was about to tell him to go away I was interrupted by an extremely angry Eli.

"Excuse me? You wanna say that again buddy? What makes you think shes a slut? Just because you weren't good enough for her last year doesn't mean that you can try to ruin her new relationships." Eli says, sounding very irritated.

"What the hell dude! You wanna fight?!"

"Come at me," Eli says with a grin. Bruce swings at Eli, but Eli quickly dogged it and punched him in the gut, I try to stop them, but Amelia just says, "Just let them fight it out, you can't stop them." The fight went on for a few more minuets, but then Eli kicks him real hard in the stomach and tells him, "Don't you ever, call her a slut again. ever." Eli stands up and says to me, "I'm sorry you had to see that, I just got so angry, I-"

"It's ok, thank you." I say smiling. We all walk back to class like nothing ever happened.

*Eli pov*

When Bruce came up and said those things, I just couldn't contain myself, I was so angry, no one talks to my love like that. I know that I should have maybe gone a little easier on him, but I was just so mad. I don't know what happened, I just, lashed out... I am so glad that Lissa wasn't to mad about it, she is such a great girl.

*Skip to the end of the day*                                                                                                                                                 *Melissa pov*

The bell is about to ring, I am super excited to hang out with Eli and Amelia after school, I can hardly contain my excitement. After what seems like the longest minuet of my life, the bell finally rings and we all rush to our lockers. After getting our stuff together, Eli, Amelia, and I rush to the bus and push everyone to get to the front. I usually sit on the right side of the bus, to watch Eli on the sidewalk, but now I actually get to sit by him today! It's literally, a dream come true. About 20 minuets later we finally arrive at the stop. We all get off and head to the beach. It's cold down here, like always, so I put on Eli's sweatshirt again. It's so warm and fuzzy. We get to the beach, I take my shoes off and put my feet in the water, while Amelia shifts into a mermaid and swims around. Eli is sitting right next to me.

"Hey Eli... Can I, see your tail again?"

"Haha yea sure," He shifts into his merman form, and splashes his tail in the water. I watch in amazement, it is so pretty.

"Hey Lissa, can I ask you something?"

"Yea go ahead." I say a little nervously, I have no idea what it would be...

"So, I really like you, you are so nice, and funny, and not to mention really pretty... So I was wondering if maybe you would like to be, my girlfriend?" He said. I can't believe that just happened, my dream of being with him, finally just came true! I am so happy!

"Yes! I have liked you for so long! You are so handsome, and caring, and funny. And the whole merman thing is a big bonus." I say

"I am so glad you said yes," he says, he grabs my hand and we entangle our fingers together, he puts his other hand behind my head pulling me closer to him, he then kisses me softly on the lips, I run my fingers through his smooth hair, and I slowly kiss him back. Little did we know, someone else was watching...
