I opened my eyes and looked around frantically. Why is my eyesight so good? Why...the pain...? I sat up.
I was in a room with gray marble floor and murals of very large and beautiful people with glowing red eyes all over the walls. They were frightening but strangely familiar. I stood and walked over to a mirror by the door. It took only a millisecond at the most. I didn't understand. Then I saw the terrifying beauty that couldn't possibly be me but somehow was in the mirror.
This me looked horribly like the people on the wall. Red eyes. Breathtakingly beautiful. Startlingly pale. But it was still me. Same curly black hair, same height of 5'3, same light blue blouse and jeans with black converse. The scariest part was the nagging suspicion about what was happening...or what had happened. My throat burned like I'd been stumbling around in the hottest desert on Earth for weeks, maybe months.
Vampire.
