The next morning went by quickly and smoothly. I didn't talk to Aaron or Jacob the entire morning, and they didn't attempt to talk to me. Aaron's face was slowly starting to bruise, but it wasn't nearly as bad as Zack's eye. I got away with wearing a dress that was obviously dress code because my mom was too busy packing to check it.
First period went by without me having to talk to Zack, Joshua, or the two knock-off brand Barbie dolls, Jennifer and Stacy. The quiz in my third period class was extremely easy, and we were allowed to read the next two chapters in class once we furnished the quiz.
While I was waiting on everyone to leave the classroom, Zack slowly walked over to me with a flushed face. His eye looked swollen, and I knew that it had to hurt.
"What's wrong?" I asked him worriedly.
"Nothing, it's just that I was wondering if I could... If it were possible that I might..." He struggled to say. He shook his head.
"What are you trying to ask?" I asked him trying to give him time to clear up his confusion.
"Can I sit with your group at lunch? I mean, we're trying to be friends again, and I am really tired of sitting alone everyday with people staring at me all the time." He blurted out right before we walked out of the classroom.
"Of course you can! That's not even questionable. I'm really glad you asked." I told him smiling.
"Are you sure that the others won't mind?" He asked nervously.
"I'm positive. Well, Joshua might mind, but I don't care about his preferences anyways." I explained leading him to our table. The rest of our group wasn't there yet, and Zack took Anna's seat next to me.
"Who normally sits here?" He asked worriedly.
"Anna, but she can sit across from Kyle next to Valerie. That shouldn't be an issue." I told him as Joshua and Valerie walked up to the table.
"What's he doing here?" Joshua asked annoyed. He's such an idiot.
"I don't know Josh? What is he doing here? I mean I think he might be eating because we are in a lunchroom, but I'm not so sure. I easily could be wrong." I retorted sarcastically. I heard whispers around the cafeteria, and I noticed people looking in our direction.
"I hate you so much White. Why are you over here Stone?" He asked him as Anna and Kyle walked over to the table.
"Cameron told me that it was alright to sit with you all instead of by myself. She said that there was an extra seat." He explained.
"Thank you Zack. Anna, is the empty seat next to me alright with you?" Valerie asked rolling her eyes at me.
"Yeah, I'll be fine over there." She replied walking over to her new seat as Kyle took his seat next to me.
