After my boring first 3 class periods, I took my seat at lunch, and everyone was already seated except for Zack.
"What in the world are you wearing Cameron?" Valerie asked when I sat down.
"Don't even get me started on my outfit. I had an extremely dress code dress picked out to wear today for the occasion of Mr. Lowman being out of town. However, I couldn't wear it because I got locked out of my house. I left all of my keys inside. Zack's mother's clothes didn't fit me, so I had to borrow some of his old ones. I swear this is so embarrassing." I told them hiding my head in my arms.
"You don't look bad Cameron. I bet fifteen dollars that at least 5 girls will wear a similar outfit tomorrow." Kyle told me with a slight smile after I lifted my head up.
"No way. I accept that bet." I told him shaking his hand.
Zack took his seat next to me, and I smiled slightly.
"Hey, I was talking to Mrs. Eldridge, and she told me that you might be able to help me out a little with the work we are doing now. I've been having a little trouble with it, and she said that your doing really well." Zack told me glancing over toward Joshua and Valerie before turning back to me.
"Yeah definitely. Everyone has their subject that they struggle with. You have to help me in English though. I seriously cannot write a good essay." I told him knowing that English was his best subject by far.
"I can definitely help with that." He told me smiling.
"That reminds me, was there something that you were going to say to me before we were interrupted twice?" I asked him curiously.
He looked around the table before he spoke.
"It's okay. It wasn't that important." He told me, but it was obvious that he was upset about something.
"Are you sure?" I asked him doubtingly, and he nodded in reply.
Kyle was talking to Anna about piano, and Valerie and Joshua were planning the weekend together. I turned back to Zack, and he was eating.
"So besides doing schoolwork, should we do something tonight? I mean, as much as I enjoy your house and everything, I think we should go somewhere." I told him slightly smiling hoping that he would agree.
"Yeah, I have plan, but it's a surprise. You're going to enjoy it I think." He told me winking.
The lunch period flew by, and we all went our separate ways. Math was easy as always because it was my best subject, and English was equally boring. Kyle and I walked together to free period, but instead of going to the library we went out to the garden. Now, Florida is almost never cold in August. It normally doesn't go below 80 degrees. Today's temperature was definitely strange at around 65 degrees and no one was expecting it. The weathermen are saying its some strange cold front and the news station is blaming it on pollution and global warming. Who knows?
"Why are we going outside when it is freezing again?" I asked him curiously as we walked toward the back of the school.
"Everyone is going to be in the library, so I figured that we would be better off out here. You're not going to be too cold are you?" He asked challenging me with his tone of voice.
"Of course not." I scoffed at him sounding appalled that he would even begin to think that. I'm going to freeze to death.
We walked outside, and as soon as the cool breeze met my face, I shivered. I hated being cold. Heat was the best. I'd lived in Florida all my life. Of course I love the heat.
