The darkness was too much for Will to take.
He could feel the hallway becoming smaller and smaller.
Soon it would crush him.
Both girls were on either side of him- One shivering, one trying not to shiver. The latter, Will presumed, was Ayano. For some reason, her vivid blue hair was still faintly visible in the dark.
"Lumos!" Jane muttered. The tip of her wand lit up. Ayano and Will did the same.
The rumbling grew louder. The wall was closing in even faster.
"Look! An exit! We can get out!" Ayano pointed her wand in the direction of another large, unlit doorway. "Let's go!"
Without hesitating, the three of them dashed towards it and leaped into another corridor. Will ran into the opposite wall, which, to his relief, was not vibrating or moving in any way.
He heard the girls sighing. "We need to get to the library." It was Jane. The wand light made her fake facial tattoos look nightmarish. "If we take the Moerder, it might be of some help."
"But you memorized it, didn't you?" Ayano pointed out.
"Yes, but will you two remember it?"
"I wasn't listening when you told everyone about the Moerder. Maybe I can commit it to memory." Will volunteered.
"Are you sure, Will?" Asked Jane.
"Jane," He replied. "The Sorting Hat considered putting me in Ravenclaw. But it decided on Slytherin in the end."
Jane looked puzzled. "Oh, um, alright then. Memorize this-
When all that is dark touches the light,
the monster will bring terror and fright,
to the weak, the strong, the brave and the loyal,
Malfoy blood, for victory against evil they will toil.
Abraxas will lend strength to the chosen,
Lucius will render time frozen,
Narcissa will radiate love and faith,
Draco will bring forth the eighth."
Will listened in silence.
"Now repeat it." Jane ordered.
Will started.
"When all that is dark touches the light,
the monster will bring terror and fright,
to the weak, the strong, the brave and the loyal,
Malfoy blood, for victory against evil they will toil.
Abraxas will lend strength to the chosen,
Lucius will render time frozen,
Narcissa will radiate love and faith,
Draco will bring forth the eighth."
Jane smiled. "Well done."
Ayano's face was expressionless. "Well, that is rather helpful. I wish I could do that."
"I think you ought to help me actually understand this." Will shrugged. "It sounds....Blood-curdling."
Jane snorted. "It's sort of simple."
"Oh really?" Ayano raised an eyebrow.
Jane shrugged as well. "It means that there's going to be a war. A big one. Evil will try to eliminate good. The problem is that the evil will be so powerful, that even the bravest of the brave will kneel in terror. The only way for the good side to win would be to have someone of Malfoy blood. Only then will the good side receive aid from the four most famous ghosts of Malfoy Manor- Abraxas, Lucius, Narcissa and Draco. Abraxas will lend his strength to the ones who deserve to live to see victory. Lucius rendering time frozen......That clearly has something to do with Charles. Narcissa will ensure that the good side doesn't give up. And Draco will bring the good side......A surprise."
Will was pretty sure he wasn't supposed to be staring like that.
"Hydra."Ayano suddenly said. "We need Hydra. It's starting, and we need her. She's the only Malfoy left."
"There's the catch." Jane replied. "I don't think so."
"Pardon?" Said Will.
"I mean, that I don't believe that she's the only Malfoy left. The weight of the destruction of evil all on Hydra's shoulders...No. I don't believe that. Either that, or the Moerder is saying something else. Hydra didn't cross me as the 'Save the world' type."
"But who else could it refer to? Not to Charles, there's already a line about him- As if that weren't creepy enough. We only know Hydra, and even if there is a Malfoy left it's highly unlikely that they'd rush to our aid just like-"
"Look there!" Ayano said. She pointed her glowing wand at the doorway. "The wall!"
They were so engrossed in talking that none of them noticed that the rumbling had stopped completely. The doorway was now blocked by the once-moving wall, so there was no longer a corridor in that area.
"Well, I suppose we can't exactly go that way, then." Ayano said. "Come on, we can talk and look for Hydra at the same-"
"MOVE!!" Yelled Jane.
Boom. BOOM.
No, thought Will.
He looked up to see the ceiling moving closer to the ground. To see the ceiling falling. On them.
Will found himself unable to hear Jane's shrieking. He felt himself lunging forward, grabbing a soft hand, and running.
Just running.
A loud crash reverberated through the hallway. Will slowed down and turned, his heart thumping hard against his chest.
The ceiling in that particular area had fallen. A large pile of rubble lay in the spot Will had once been standing. Dust hovered in the air. Light streamed through the hole in the ceiling.
He realized he had been clutching Jane's hand so tightly, her fingers were chalk-white. As if she weren't pale enough. He let go, and she stared at the rubble in- Fear? Horror?
"Will," Jane said, in a very small voice. "Where's Ayano?"
Will's eyes searched frantically for her. Nothing.
"Ayano?" Jane called. "Ayano?"
Will's instincts forced him to dive into the pile of rubble, tossing away bricks and other objects, desperately hoping that Ayano was under the pile, and that she was hopefully alright.
The pile grew smaller near his feet. He felt sweat beads run down his face. No no no no no.
He finally reached the bottom.
Nothing.
He turned to Jane, who was down on her knees, her face white with shock.
"Where-Where's Ayano?"Will was about to answer when a voice echoed from the end of the hallway. "She is safe. And you will be, as well."
