A nightmare and that's all

I found it rather hard to rest on the flight to my home town. It had been a while since I had been there and I was excited to see my friend and her family once again. I left that town to escape the horrors of my past, ones I will not be discussing. The only reason why I was going back was because of some strange things that had been happening at my friends place of work.

She had sent me a picture of a mirror that showed the ghost of a little boy that could only be seen at a certain angle with no explanation. That and there was other hauntings going on that she still had not explained.

The plane jerked twice then landed. I was thankful to be finally able to get off. The small plane was racked with the noise of the wind and every bump was felt. Stepping off the ladder, I was able to see the setting sun behind the mountains.

"There she is!" I heard the cheeky blonde I loved squeal. I ran and jumped on her. She had changed much over the last three months. Her once dyed black hair was now a bleached blonde, her skin had a slight tan. She was no longer on the big side but was curvy, she was still taller than me and her thin lips looked a little bit fuller. Her blue green eyes remained the same.

"You have changed so much Kat." I said smiling at her as we grabbed my bags and headed to the car. "Like you wouldn't believe." She laughed. We spent the drive to her apartment catching up. I learned that she had found another girlfriend and that her and her mother owned the local store and was doing quite well.

I was amazed at the progress she had made in such a short amount of time.

"I hope you're ready to meet Jasmine. She's inside making drinks for us."

"Of course I'm ready. I have to meet her and approve of her." I said walking up the apartment stairs. She laughed at me and opened the green door. The apartment was small but decent. White walls, brown shag carpeting, an old leather couch placed in front of the tv, a small kitchen with all the usual appliances, a short hallway with three doors. One of which was a bathroom of course, another the bedroom and the last one a closet.

I sat on couch and was greeted with a margarita. The woman who handed it to me was Jasmine. I had to congratulate Kat on snagging her up. She was Hispanic and it showed. She had lovely brown flawless skin, dark green eyes, pure long straight black hair, quite tall , pouty lips and curves that put my scrawny figure to shame.

In a room with these two girls I looked out of place. I was about the average height of five foot six, my naturally tanned skin paled. I had black hair and dark brown eyes to match. I didn't have much in curves, in fact they were barely noticeable.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Susan." Jasmine smiled at me. The three of us spent the night drinking, talking and laughing until we all passed out.

We all woke up that morning feeling sick. It's no wonder why. I sat up on the floor and cringed as the two of them puked up a gooey, dark red substance onto the floor. It was odd, I didn't remember us consuming anything of that color. Jasmine offered to clean the mess up and sent me and Kat on our way to open the store up.

When we arrived she grabbed us a couple of granola bars and we went to go greet her mother and baby sister.

"You're here finally." I was embraced by Loreen who looked exactly like Kat only a bit smaller and shorter. "Yes I made it, I heard you guys have done well but have experienced odd things here." I said patting the little one on the head. "Yes there has been I'll let Kat show you while me and the lil rugrat open up." She said pushing us along.

Kat led me to the mirror that was in the picture she had sent me. It was hanging from the celling in the isle closest to the register.

"Stand right here and you can see him. We still can't figure out how this is possible." She angled me a few inches away from underneath the mirror and I could see him. The little boy. He was small his skin grey, eyes and hair black, mouth set in and angry posture. I felt a slight chill then stepped away and back into spot a few times. Each time the boy appeared and disappeared.

"That is really odd, I don't know how to explain that." I responded.

"That's not all of what's been happening here." She pulled me along to the back of the store. There was a set of stairs and a balcony that over looked the isles. I stared in awe as I saw ghost clear as day walking back and forth. They were walking in a way that showed signs of agitations. I could feel their anger towards me. They did not want me here.

The door bells chimed and I quickly led Kat away from there. As we stepped into view, I felt something pass by my head very quickly. Frozen in my spot I looked at the wall to see a butcher knife embedded into the stores frame.

"What was that?" One of the customers asked, fear evident in her voice. Kat and I exchanged worried glances as we joined her mom at the register. She was explaining to them about some of the strange activities that go on here. Of course they were all very happy to hear about another haunted place. I couldn't pay attention, I was distracted by the chill slowly tracing my spine. As an elder lady laughed and stated there was no such thing as ghost, a box cutter flew out from the box on the shelf, the blade popping out before it hit the ground. I looked at the box and saw that it said 'cuts deep on turns'. Everyone's eyes were glued to the object as if it were death itself. No one was willing to make a move or a sound. The urge to pick it up and throw it outside became over whelming. I carefully picked it up and started my slow walk to the door.

"Be careful." Kat said. I nodded and kept walking about to turn around the counter when the blade turned to, trying to cut my hand. I stopped and straightened out and the blade copied my movement. Being careful not to turn I made it to the door, realizing I'd have to turn to throw it out. I did very quickly while stepping outside and dropped it on the side walk, but not before it sliced my palm. I turned just in time to see the doors slam shut. I tried to pull it open but they didn't dare budge. Panicked I look towards the people inside when I heard screaming. One of the customers was knocked onto their stomach and being dragged away. Kat and her mom where holding the baby screaming for me to help them. I found a chair and tried to break the glass but it did nothing. I kept trying to break it while everyone was slowly dragged away. Kat and her sister were left crouched behind the register crying. She kept giving a terrified look that begged for help. Finally I started running to the post office across the street screaming for help. A lady came out and I was relieved. I rushed towards her then stopped.

She had blood pouring rapidly out of her mouth and she fell down. I stared in horror. Her mouth was open wide blood still oozing out, fear playing in her lifeless eyes. I started running screaming for help, not understanding what was happening. Everywhere I went, people kept coming out and dying. All had blood escaping from their mouths and eyes. I finally came across an elderly couple on a sun swing smiling.

"Please I need help. I don't know what to do." I got out breathing hard. They both turned their gaze on me and laughed very cold and cruelly. My eyes widen when their heads just fell off. I watched as they landed on the ground, still laughing and staring at me.

"He's here, he's coming to get you." They sang. I took off, terrified. It started to rain so hard I was soaked in a matter of seconds. The sky was pitch black, but it was still bright out. Like the sun wasn't behind a shroud of clouds. I kept running till I got to my grandparents house. I raced up the porch and to the door, ready to knock. But I stopped as blood slowly seeped out and drenched the door. I backed away slowly and fell down in utter defeat. My tears were coming as fast as the rain. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't understand what was going on and I felt so hopeless. I felt someone staring at me and I looked down the street to see a man covered in an unexplainable shadow watching me with and ominous smile. He had been watching the whole time. I couldn't look away I was scared, confused, and wanting help. He ever so slowly lifted his arm and turned his palm out towards me. Welcoming me to come to him.........

I sat up and gasped, darting my eyes around my room. Falling back I breathed easily. It was just a dream. I chuckled then sat up. The smile on my face vanished. I felt a sting on my palm and saw that i had somehow cut it open. I looked up and my heart stopped beating. On my wall was red letterings that seemed to be dripping. S'I'm coming for you'. But....it..was just a....nightmare.......
