Food filled his stomach, shoes protected his feet, and clean clothes covered his body. For a moment of time it was like rays of light shined down on him. But only for a moment did that happen. Caddy and Kennedy had sent him out to explore. They'd told him to go find somebody named Mure Blips. He would be able to help Lev somehow. They hadn't had answers for everything Lev had wanted to know and his mind wouldn't stop its spinning.
There was an entire different side of Trealles. West. And it was abnormal. There were no mods or synth or anything that he was used to. It didn't make sense. How did he not know that this existed? Why was the bridge sealed off from the West? What had happened to cause the separation? Had it always been this way?
But how had he ended up here?
If the Silk sisters were right, Mure would have more answers for him. Apparently Mure had more understanding than they did, but they couldn't exactly tell him how to find this person. He was just supposed to figure it out and Lev was tired of figuring everything out. He just wanted answers and this was becoming not only more wondrous with each passing step and moment, but more frustrating.
Outside of Berry Straw was a diamond shaped middle plaza. A fountain gurgled in the middle of it, the statue a woman with a container on her head which spouted the water forth. Small children ran around the fountain, splashed in it, and swam. Lev stopped in the middle of the cobblestones to watch. A smile tickled the corner of his mouth, but he pushed it away. Now was not the time for dallying. He had a mission. Find Mure. Get answers.
So he continued on, down the road. Past the plaza was another aisle of houses on each side, but an alley opened to the right. Something told him to go down the alley. Small puddles of water rested in the shadows. Above him ropes stretched across the expanse up and up and up and clothing was draped over them. He ducked beneath one of the lines and continued on. The alley opened up to another row of buildings. To his right were steps going up the path. They stretched on and on, but at the end was a large, ornate building. He would go that way.
His legs ached as he climbed up, step after step. People passed him, more clothing lines hung overhead, children screamed with laughter. Lev's heart began to pound and his ears rang. He should have accepted the Silk sisters' offer of water. Only a little further and he'd make it to a level surface. So he pressed on. Everybody who passed him waved or smiled so he kept his eyes to the ground. People called out from where they sat on their front porches in chairs that rocked back and forth. It was unnerving. A sweat pricked at Lev's neck and continued down his back.
He made it to the top, stopped, and turned to look down the path amazed at how far he'd come. He breathed heavily, arms at his sides, and just watched life unfold before him. Everybody looked genuinely happy. Some whistled, others skipped around, and nobody was worried about getting sun because none of them had mods.
After a few minutes of just being, Lev turned to survey everything he'd climbed up to. The large, ornate building was before him and other buildings flanked it, creating another row. Signs spiked out from the walls. Large letters were on the ornate building. Mure T. Blip Theater.
Lev's heart spiked and he walked forward, drawn by the name. Mure. His gut had been right in choosing to come this way. Why couldn't the Silk sisters tell him that Mure owned a theater? That would have made things easier. But perhaps they were only helping him by not giving him everything he wanted. It was, perhaps, good for him, in a way.
A few more steps, he passed through weathered columns that might have been white years ago, and stood before the large doors that were surrounded by intricately carved golden wood. Taking a few deep breaths, Lev prepared himself with what little preparation he could grab hold of, grabbed a handle, and turned the knob.
