The cabin boy stumbled below the ship to rest for the night. Thinking about what he said to Anna Marie, he let out a few sighs and occasionally licking his dried lips as he reached his poorly hung hammock. Robbie was about to flop down into his "bed" when he heard footsteps.
"Hello?" He called out, turning to face the noise. It was dark below the ship, there was only a little lantern lit which was above his hammock. Hesitantly, he reached down for his sword-which he stole from the craftsmen-and pointed it out, turning his head looking for a figure.
"Relax, boy." A voice came from behind him. "No need to panic." Robbie turn to face a huge shadow coming towards him.
"Who are you?" He called out, raising his chin to show he had no fear. The shadow stepped into the dim lighting, Blackbeard.
"I would think you would know." He spoke, standing tall.
"My apologies, Captain." Robbie swallowed. He never once spoke to Blackbeard while being part of the crew. Slowly, he put his sword under the hammock while waiting for his captain to speak again.
"I came to offer you a job. A chance to prove yourself to me, lad." He started. "If you're up for the task." Blackbeard add, raising an eyebrow.
"A-aye, Captain." Robbie stuttered lightly, glanced at Blackbeard's hand, which was placed on his sword handle, then back to his face.
"Before we set for the fountain, we need to get something, a mermaid. I need a group of men to go and retrieve one then bring her to shore. If you live, I'll give you my blessing." Blackbeard explained simply.
"But captain, I'm not too sure I need your blessing." Robbie replied quietly. "I don't think Marie has any interest to me. A friend, yes, but a lover no." Blackbeard studied his face, rubbing his chin.
"But what if she does? Wouldn't you want to prove yourself a man to the lass? Aye?"
"Aye." He nodded.
"So?"
The cabin boy's eyes trailed to the floor, thinking about his decision. He nodded before replying. "Aye, I'll do it."
"Good, choice lad. Now, get some sleep you'll need your strengths for tomorrow evening." The captain nodded his head and turned to walk to his cabin.
Robbie watched him walk up the stairs before slowly laying on his hammock. Did he make the right choice? Will it actually work? Shaking his head at the questions he asked in his head, he leaned up to blow out the candle. Laying back down, he let out a sigh. "This will be easy. Get a mermaid, get the lass." He thought to himself before closing his eyes to fall asleep.

Blackbeard walked up to his cabin and pushed it open. Walking in, one of his zombiefied men turned around. "Is it done, captain?" He asked. "Did the cabin boy believe you?"
"Of course he did." Blackbeard smirked. "The poor lad thinks it'll be easy. He has no idea what mermaids are like." He sat down at his desk, taking a sip of rum from his bottle.
Angelica came through the door. "You wanted to see me father?" She panted out, looking at both men.
"Remember that cabin boy you told me your sister fancies?" He asked looking at his bottle.
"Yes?" She answered confused.
"Well I've decided to make a deal with him. Earning my blessing." He finally turned his head to look up at his eldest daughter.
"Father, that's fantastic." A soft smile appeared on her face. "What did you tell him?"
"If he goes to retrieve a mermaid with a group of men I put together, he has my blessing to be with Anna Marie." A wicked grin formed on his face. His daughter looked at him with horror.
"Father, he will die!" Angelica exclaimed.
"Exactly, so she won't have to worry about her mixed feelings for just some cabin boy. Then she can focus on putting together a crew and a ship of her own. I have it all planned out for her to take on as my allie when it comes to major battles." Blackbeard put the bottle down after taking another sip.
"You have already planned out her life for her? But she's only a child!" Angelica shouted, her accent thickening, as she stormed over to her father's desk.
"Aye, I have. I am her father just as much as I am yours. She was born to lead not to become a wife to a boy she thinks she fancies. She will do as I tell her and so will you." Blackbeard stood, getting angry.
"She will not be happy about this." Angelica spoke quietly.
"I don't give a damn if she's happy. I'm doing what's best for her." Blackbeard spoke firmly.
"For her or for you." Biting her lip, she stared at her father.
"Do not upset me, dear child." He warned. "Now go and speak none of this to your sister, understand?" Pointing to the door, he stared right at her. Angelica shook her head disapprovingly and turned to walk out of his cabin.
She stopped and turned her head to the side. "As if she actually is your daughter." She spat, turned her face, and walked out.
