Chapter 7.

Beth's POV

Wells Jaha is dead. He was killed by grounders about a week ago. He was my childhood friend. I knew him all my life and now he's dead.

I don't know truly about what to think about it. It's crazy. I know they speared Jasper and I but that was miles away from camp, not right outside the gates.

Speaking of outside the gates, Octavia was taking Jasper outside just for a small walk. He hasn't been outside the walls since we were speared. I was when they buried Wells, I had to be.

So now, I was slowly walking around camp. I was supposed to be resting but I'd rather not have to stare at the dropship wall any longer. The grey walls reminded me to much of my cell in the skybox. I would go crazy if I have to stare at it anymore.

I just watched Murphy yell at some kid. God he is suck a jackass.

I watch as Jasper and Octavia rush back from outside the gates. I see Jasper go into the dropship. I try and walk quickly to Octavia. "Hey, what's wrong?" I ask from the worried look on her face.

"Can you come with me to get Bellamy?" She asks. I give her a confused look but nod.

Now we were standing in a tent. Looking over the table that has two of Wells' fingers and a knife made from the dropship.

"This knife was made from the metal on the dropship." Clarke confirms.

"What do you mean?" Octavia asks her.

"Who else knows about this?" Clarke asks Jasper and Octavia.

"No one. We brought it straight here." O answers Clarke.

"The metal was from the dropship. It means the grounders didn't kill Wells, it was one of us." I say to them.

"So there's a murderer in camp?" Octavia asks.

"There's more than one murderer in camp. That isn't news. We gotta keep this quite, it can't get out to the others." I say to them.

"She's right." Bellamy agrees with me.

Clarke goes to leave with the knife in her hand but Bellamy steps in her way. "Get out of my way Bellamy." She tells him.

"Clarke be smart about this. Look at what we've achieved... the wall, the patrols. Like it or not... thinking the grounders killed Wells is a good thing." Bellamy says.

"Oh, good for you, you mean? What keep people afraid and they'll work for you? Is that it?" Clarke asks him.

"Yeah that's it. But it's good for all of us." Bellamy answers.

Clarke, the fear that they have for the Grounders is getting that wall built. And you can't just walk out there and ask the killer to step forward? You don't even know who's knife that is." I say to Clarke, she looks at me in disbelief, surprised I'm not taking her side.

"Oh, really? J.M. John Murphy." Clarke says holding up the knife showing the others the initials. "The people have a right to know." she says and quickly leaves the tent and storms up to Murphy. "You son of a bitch!" she yells getting in Murphy's face. We quickly follow her out of the tent seeing her push Murphy and yell at him.

"What's your problem?" he asks her.

"Recognize this?" she asks showing him the knife.

"That's my knife. Where'd you find it?" He asks her.

"Where you dropped it after you killed Wells." she says angrily.

"Where I what? The Grounders killed Wells not me." he says to her.

"I know what you did and your gonna pay for it." She says.

"Really?" he looks at Bellamy who was standing next to me and Octavia, Jasper and Monty, who came out of the dropship. "Bellamy, you believe this crap?" he asks but Bellamy doesn't reply.

"You threatened to kill him. We all heard You. You hated Wells." Clarke says.

"Plenty of people hated Wells his father is the Chancellor who locked us up." Murphy says but it doesn't help him much.

"Yeah, but your the only one who got in a fight with him." Clarke says.

"Yeah, I didn't kill him then, either " Murphy says.

"Tried to kill Jasper and Beth too." Octavia comes in.

"What?" Me and Jasper both ask, shocked.

"Come on this is ridiculous. I don't have to answer to you. I don't have to answer to anybody." Murphy says.

Bellamy looks at the younger boy and asks. "Come again?"

Murphy looks at him. "Bellamy, look, I'm telling you, man. I didn't do this."

"They found his fingers on the ground with your knife." Bellamy says to him.

"Say we float him." Conner says.

"Float him!" Yelled through the crowd.

"No that's not what I'm saying. Revenge isn't justice!" Clarke yells.

And with that Murphy was cornered by other campers, who end up pushing him down a hill yelling to float him.
