"Get up already!" My vision and body spun, having my head going every which way and I hit the floor with minimal pain, thanks to carpeting seeing with my disoriented vision my mattress angled to the ground by the man who flipped it; dad. In the confusion, I can barley see his pale skin and circular glasses, but focused my eyes to view his semi muscular body.
"Wake up already. Geez, I've called you about 5 times and shook you three.""Ugh, god," I hissed under my breath. "Why did you do this, it's Saturday morning?"
"Let's go to the library. It will only be for 20 minutes ," he said having a 180 spin on his attitude.
Seeing I barley had a choice but didn't want to argue I let a breath of air like a sigh minus negativity and began digging through my dwarf sized closet for something to throw on.
He did stuff like this every other Saturday minus flipping the mattress. Unlike normal men, he preferred reading books to sports which always received surprised looks from most men, which made him hang out with mostly other women as friends giving even more surprised looks from men, including myself. I never really liked reading unless it was sports related which is what I usually got. Another reason I saw worth going to the library was this hot young librarian that I flirted with even though she was in her 20's, but the legal age in my state is 16 so I have a chance. I haven't seen her in weeks, so I started hating it again. I found a plain white shirt and my gray sweatpants, I checked the mirror and pushed back my short blonde hair and looked closer at my freckles on my pale face to see if they're going away and got my library card and phone before leaving.
Dad was waiting in the car and when I got in I turned on the radio as I had nothing to say to him but he tried to talk to me while driving.
"So, why don't you like reading son?" he asked.
I just shrugged and said, "I don't know. Why don't you like sports?"
He also shrugged the same manner I did and said, "I don't know."
There was only the beat of the car driving and the sound of the radio as I starred at the road.
"Oh dad," I almost forgot to mention, "There is a party at my friend Matt's place later. Can I go?"
"I don't know I'll check with your mom."
I wanted to go to my best friends party for weeks. He throws legendary parties and always invited the whole football and cheer team. I would even sneak out to go, but I can always convince dad.
"Come on dad, why do you have to do that? You've been divorced from her for 4 years, so I'm sure you're smart enough to make this decision on your own."
"You're still her son so I gotta check with her. You do live with her on weekdays after all, remember."
When we parked on the other side of the street from the library. I just crossed the street as quickly as possible with my dad since it looked like it was going to rain to get away from my dad and get this over with.
