She skips towards the clothes store, her bags swinging at her sides. "Let's go in here!" She chirps, glancing over her shoulder at the man that followed her at safe distance. "Come on!"
He chuckles, watching as she skips towards the shop. "I'm coming, I'm coming." He answers, slipping through the crowd. His eyes flicker over the sea of faces, thoughts flickering through his head as he looks over each of them."Darek! Come on!" She whines, bouncing at the door of the shop. He chuckles, joining her at the entrance. With a grin, she bounces indoors, joyfully running her fingers over the clothes.
"Choose whatever you want. I'll get it for you." He says, crossing his arms over his chest as he leans against the wall. "Just let me know."
She grins at him and goes back to looking over the clothes, her eyes searching for the perfect one. After a while, she pulls out a sky blue dress and holds it up for him to look at. "What do you think?"
"I think it goes great with your hair." He answers ,gesturing to her flaming locks. She nods, accepting the answer. "I think so too."
"So that's the one that you want?" He asks, smiling when she nods her head vigorously. "Alright. But you can't wear it until your party tomorrow."
"Promise!" She says, grinning as she hands him the dress.
"Good." He says as he buys the dress. "Alright. Now what?" He asks, handing her the shopping bag."Home I guess." She answers, shrugging her shoulders.
"Alright." He answers, walking out of the store. "I'll drop you off at home."--------
A knock on the door interrupts her preparations. She smooths down her dress as she moves towards the door, muttering under her breath the list of things she needed to do. She stops in front of the door, her hand hesitating on the doorknob. Taking a deep breath, she opens the door and grins at the person on the other side.
"Jake!" She says, wrapping her arms around him in an embrace. "You look great! The military treated you well.""You look great too, Joy!" He says, wrapping his arms around her in return. "It was great to get your invitation. It's been so long. since I've seen you."
She releases him. "I know!" She glances over his shoulder, her eyes widening as she spots another man walking towards her front door. "Markus! You came!"
"How could I miss the birthday of my little cousin?" He asks, ruffling her well made hair."Am I late?" Another voice asks from behind the two men.
"Mary!" Joy says, pushing past the boys to wrap her arms around her sister. After a moment, she releases her sister and ushers the three of them into her house. "Make yourselves at home! The others should be here soon."
"So, who is this Darek that you said you invited?" Markus asks, taking a seat on the couch.
"He's a friend. I met him at a social event that I went to with John." She answers, setting a tray of food down on the coffee table.
"Are you still with John?" Mary asks, taking a slice of an apple.
"Yeah." She answers, glancing at the door."Is he coming?"
Joy nods, looking back at her guests. She leaps up at the sound of a knock on the door, earning laughs from the others. She opens the door, jumping at the person on the other side.He laughs, wrapping his arms around her. "Hey, baby." He laughs, kissing her cheek.
"I was worried you weren't coming." She admits, looking up at him. "But I'm glad you did!"
"Why wouldn't I come?" He asks, tapping the tip of her nose.
She chuckles, letting him go to look over his shoulder at the last person she had invited. "Hey, Darek."
