Maybe, maybe, maybe

The rest of January and most of the February passed in a blur. I had a lot of work with my oncoming exams and Dominic still spent most of his time at work. Neither Sierra nor I went anywhere on our winter break. I missed snowboard like crazy and I wanted nothing more than just go away for a week, but the amount of work – and lack of money – kept me in place.

Poor Teddy happened to fall in love with Dominic and demanded to have him next to me on every chat. He frowned and pouted every time I told him Dominic was busy and to be honest, I was getting a little jealous. Soon he was going to love Dominic more than me and what would I do then? He was my little brother. I was not going to give him to someone else. Even if the someone else was my boyfriend.

We didn't get more chances for anything more than a chaste kiss or an occasional hug after that one night. Truth be told, over the last four days we maintained contact only through the phone since he had to work shifts for some guy who left for a week. But being the good girlfriend I was, I decided to pay him a little visit.

When I asked Borah where exactly was the garage Dominic worked in, it turned out it wasn't that far from where I lived. Keeping in mind the fact that his coworkers were quite familiar with my car, knowing it was the one that dented Dominic's precious bumper, I decided to leave it at home and go by bus.

I found the place without any major problems. It was a rather small garage with big, blue letters spelling CHRIS's. I guess I looked rather funnily walking in there on foot, but I didn't really care.

One of the guys looked up from whatever he was doing with some red car. His eyes measured me from head to toe and he furrowed his brows, no doubt wondering what the hell I wanted.

"Can I help you?" He asked, wiping his hands with some grease-smeared towel.

"Um, hi." I gave him a little wave. "I'm Abi. Dom's girlfriend."

Saying it out loud still felt strange.

"I know he's been busy working on two shifts, so I thought I was going to visit him here. So, um... Where can I find him?

The guy's brows furrowed even more.

"You're looking for Dom?"

"Um, yeah."

Wasn't that what I just said?

"Here?"

I nodded. Shit. Have I mistaken the places? I was nearly a hundred percent sure I was right, but then again, my intuition wasn't the most reliable source in this world.

"I'm sorry, Abi." He shook his head. "He's not here."

My brows pulled in together.

"Am I in the wrong place?"

"No, he works here. He's just not here at the moment."

What. The. Hell.

"He has to be. He told me..."

I saw the man's expression and paused, realizing just now how pathetic I sounded. He was not here.

Dominic was not here. He lied to me. Again.

How many more times was I going to go through this?

"I'm sorry." He repeated, seeing my face.

I shook my head, trying to not break in front of him.

"No, it's okay." I gave him a weak smile. "Thank you."

He nodded without a word and I turned to go. I could still feel his eyes on my back as I walked away but I didn't turn back.
