The Arrangement Chapter 2

"Come on Ash wake up!" Milly says as she vigorously shakes me.

"Can I get five more minutes?" I ask Milly pausing after each word I state for more emphasis.

"No. You said that five minutes ago." Obviously Milly doesn't care about emphasis.

"Fine!" I say forcing myself out of bed. My warm, warm bed. I almost shed a tear once my feet hit the cold tile.

"Now what are you doing here at three o'clock in the morning anyway?" I ask the tall brunette standing in front of me.

"First off, it's not three in the morning it's eleven." Milly says throwing in an eye roll, "and second, if you want this thing with River to go well you have to get going!"

"Fine," I groan. I wanted to throw in the fact that I didn't care if this thing with this so called River works. I kept my mouth shut though because Milly would've thrown in the fact that I agreed to it, which would've forced me to make up the lie that I was drunk, even though I haven't had one sip of alcohol in my life.

"Becky! Tommy!" Milly calls. Becky and Tommy are my pit crew, or at least that's what I call them. Becky is my makeup lady/hair stylist, and Tommy is my personal designer.

"Oh hello dear!" Becky greets whipping out her makeup bag, or suitcase, and pulling out different brushes and powders, all while making sure her curling iron is on full heat blast.

"Hello Beck." I greet the way to peppy lady in front of me. I mean seriously who can be this happy in the morning?

Becky starts brushing on different liquids and powders. She'll brush on some liquid crap then curl a strand of my hair while the gooey liquid drys. The strange thing though, is that she starts rambling stuff off about organic coffee beans. Well I guess it's not really strange at all because she does this just about every morning except with different topics, for example yesterday's topic was none other than baby diapers. Don't even ask me what she said about them because I didn't listen, that's Milly's job.

"They didn't think that there was such a thing. I just kept insisting that there was such a thing as organic coffee beans. You know my mom used to date a coffee bean farmer. He was a nice guy, he had mocha skin and bright brown eyes. Coincidence? I think not. I mean it's funny that he had mocha skin because mocha is a type of coffee." Becky keeps naming useless facts about organic coffee beans and I continue to tune her out. I mean this has become part of my daily morning routine, tuning Becky out I mean, she is just filled with useless knowledge that she insists on telling everyone. I'm starting to believe that if Becky doesn't inform me of some useless information at least once a day then it wouldn't actually be Becky, it would be some sort of imposter, robot type of thing.

"What do you think Ash?" Becky asks now focusing her attention on me.

"Oh, I think organic coffee beans are just great!" I say hoping that what she asked me had something to do with coffee beans and their organicness.

"Not about that silly, what do you think of your makeup and hair?" Becky clarifies shoving a hand mirror in front of me.

"Oh." I say letting out an awkward laugh and looking in the mirror, "I love it, as usual."

"Great now let's bring in Tommy." Milly says, and as if on cue in walks Tommy with his hands loaded down with many, many different outfits.
