The Arrangement Chapter 5
"Oh hey Cade."
"Hey Ashly I called to tell you that every Friday River goes out on his boat with a bunch of the guys from the baseball team. I think they would all love it if you would tag along." Cade says. I'm almost certain that it's not all Cade's idea, I think Milly has something to do with this as well.
"Oh yeah I would love to go, do you know where he docks his boat?"
"Um it's docked at Vangtun lake." Cade answers. "I'll just have River pick you up in about twenty minutes, is that okay?"
"Yeah that's fine! You can tell him that I will be ready!" I say cheerfully. Ill be specific in saying that I'm not cheerful because I get to spend the evening with River, I'm cheery because that's just my personality and I also happen to be insanely in love with boats. We used to have a boat growing up as a kid but then my dad sold it so he could buy a 'nice' car that ended up being a piece of junk.
I walk upstairs and swing open my closet door to reveal all of my clothes, I walk clear into the back where my bathing suites are located and begin skimming through all of them. You see Tommy likes to always keep my closet over flowing with clothes, and let's just say bathing suites are not his strong point. So it's always hard for me to find one I like.
After looking for what seems like hours I come across one that I actually don't hate. It's a white and simple bikini. Simple is always the way to go in my opinion. I step out of the closet with the bikini on and quickly throw on a light jacket leaving it unzipped. As I walk down stairs I also begin to pull my hair up into a messy pony tail. Since I still have like five minutes before River is supposed to get here I walk into the kitchen and grab a bottle of water. It takes no time before River starts knocking on the door very impatient like.
"Coming!" I say walking out of the kitchen and toward the front door. The door swings open and there stands River with a not so happy look on his face, as usual. This time I can't help but notice Rivers eyes glance across my body. I guess I'm not as fat as he thought I was on our first date.
"Let's go." He says walking toward the truck parked in my driveway. I'm guessing the truck must be his as well. He probably has a car/truck for each outfit in all reality.
I climb into the passenger side and secure my seatbelt. As soon as River gets into the truck he immediately pulls out of the driveway, I'm guessing he's in a hurry.
"So how was practice today?" I ask to try and minimize the deathly awkward silence.
"Fine."
"How long have you had a boat?"
"Almost a year." River answers this time with a little less hatred.
"Cool, I've always loved boats we used to have one when I was a kid, but my dad sold it." I say. I'm trying to do the whole subtle getting to know each other thing.
"I don't care."
"Of course you don't." I mumble to myself.
It seems like forever before we finally reach the docks.
I get out of the truck and see that we defiantly weren't the first ones here. And River wasn't the only one on the team with a boat. That's for sure, all around the parking lot was trucks pulling different boats on trailers. That's not even mentioning the ones that are already docked. I mean goodness this looks more like an army rather than a baseball team.
