Chapter 8

Maxxy let out a laugh as she dove silver bullet straighten down the nose of her beautiful plane heading straight for the hard earth below. Behind her Maxxy could hear Wing's breath quickening and she could feel him start to tremble in excitement. Just a moment before they hit the ground Maxxy nudged the wheel so they were flying only a few feet off the ground. She nudged the wheel again and they started a steady climb upwards. Looking behind her she say Wing gasping for air with a huge smile on his face then he said through the microphone, "You concern me little bird."
Maxxy let out a chuckle and continued her crazy antics she loved the feeling of flight, the feeling that with just the wrong move it would be her last then she somehow proved science wrong and survived. After almost an hour or flight Maxxy landed the plane and they put her back into her hanger. Jumping into the rover they headed back to the clearing and Maxxy was working to push down her smile. When they reached the area where the rest of the rovers were parked Maxxy turned to Wing about to thank him for the wonderful flight but he put up his hand and stopped her.

"You want to learn to sky dive little bird?"

Maxxy felt like her face was going to split open with how wide her smile was, she nodded and gave Wing a small nod. She totally loved this guy, she pushed down her smile and they headed back for the clearing.

When they reached it Maxxy saw that most of the people were still there and she started to wander around the clearing watching and waiting. After a while she found a women who taught how to make, use, and avoid poisons and explosives, Maxxy quickly spoke to her and got a class. After a few more of these kinds of conversations Maxxy stood away from the crowd getting tired of being stuck in the mob of people. Turning Maxxy jogged to the sleeping tent and headed for her bed but instead of staying on her bed she explored the area around it. Sitting on her bed she studied the corner that her bed sat in, she pressed her hands to the fabric of the wall and it moved easily. Looking around to make sure no one else was in the tent she hopped off her bed and open her chest, after ruffling around in her duffel for a few moments she pulled out her Swiss. She flipped open the knife and hopped back onto the bed. She knelt, looking at the corner, then reaching down she found the bottom of the wall's fabric she forced her knife through the thin cloth. It easily slid through it like a knife through butter, she drew the knife upwards until she reached a few inches above the edge of her bed. Pulling the knife away she now had a slit in the very corner that went from the bottom of the cloth to a few inches above her mattress. Maxxy smiled slightly before tucking her knife into her cargo pants and slipping off the bed she then rolled under the bed crawling until she was at the rip she made. She peered out the tent and studied her surroundings, she had a clear view straight into the forest with only a small path about a foot wide separated her from the trees. After a minute of watching Maxxy was about to wiggle through her her hidden exit but was stopped by the noise of people entering the tent. She made sure she was tucked under the bed and no one would see her before listening into the conversation.

"I can't believe they are letting some pathetic girl train solo!" A male voice growled

"I know! Did you see that she disappeared with Wing for so long I bet they were getting it on, she is such a player!" A slightly higher pitched male voice snapped.

Maxxy froze they were talking about her, is that really what they all thought of her?

Another male voice pipped up, "Are you kidding me guys, you sound like a bunch of gossipers, shut up and wait and see what happens."

Maxxy waited as she heard what she thought her buffs of acknowledgment.
"Good," said the last voice, " now lets go, I want to talk with Trigger."

Maxxy listened as the boys grabbed what they had came for and then left the tent, Maxxy waited a few more moments then she turned back to her opening. She took a deep breath before thinking about what she had heard, the general was right when he said they wouldn't like me training solo, then with a mental shrug Maxxy moved on and continued watching out her rip.

After a few minutes of surveillance Maxxy pushed threw the opening and crouched outside the tent she ran for the forest quietly after a few minutes of running her found a huge pine tree about a quarter mile from the main camp. Looking up it she could barely see the top, it was super healthy with bright green needles that were lush and hard to see through. Maxxy leaped up to the lowest beach and began climbing her mind settling on the activity.

When she reached almost 30 feet off the ground she looked around she was above a lot of the other trees and could easily see the whole camp and the air field Wing had taken her to. She studied the geography of the area she saw hills and hills of trees heading to the north, to the south was the way they had come to camp and she could see in the very far distance a large body of water a ocean maybe. To the east were hills and a sudden drop off cliffs lined the area and below them was the ocean, to the west she could see large mountains. After a few minutes of studying the land she saw Maxxy finally decided that they were on a island. It was perfect, they could keep the area under the radar and it wasn't very likely that someone would stumble upon them.

Maxxy stood up on her branch and began to study the tree again. Below where she was sitting there were two sturdy branches that stuck out of the tree about three feet away from each other. She dropped down to land on one of the large branches, she surveyed the vantage point and the branches behind her and smiled a mischievous plan beginning in her mind.
