Lucy POV

"I promise you, we will not be together! Watch me. I'll prove it."

"Okay," Mira said. "We will watch, and we will see." Levy nodded.

I regretted my words immediately.

I quickly got up from my seat and walked towards the exit, but something stopped me. Gajeel and Wendy were sitting at a table, and I walked over. The two were talking about something. I heard the names of their dragons, Metalicana and Grandina. Oh, that's why they were together, then. I barely ever talked to Gajeel, so he looked at me in confusion. Wendy welcomed me to the table with a smile as I sat down.

"Hey, Lucy! What's up?" Wendy greeted.

"Hi Wendy! I'm fine. I have a question for you two, but you can't tell anyone about this. Especially not my team or Natsu."

"What's wrong, bunny girl?"

I ignored Gajeel's name for me and continued. "So.. do you know if Natsu... has feelings for anyone?"

"Pshhh, that kid? No way." Gajeel snickered.

"Natsu? Not that I know of, but if he does then it's the only one he can have feelings for."

"Really? What does that mean? He can only have feelings for one?"

"She's talking about mates. Dragons find a mate, and that person is the only one they can truly love. Dragon slayer magic comes with the effects of a dragon, like motion sickness, and our ability to eat our element. Mates are just another thing that makes us Dragon Slayers more like actual dragons. I doubt Salamander will find a mate, though."

"I guess that explains it." Wendy smiled.

"Oh, okay... well thank you! And not a word, okay?" I said as I got up from the table.

They nodded, saying their goodbyes. I walked outside the front door of the guild, taking in the fresh air. I felt relieved, but still...

"You're Natsu's girl"

"I am nobody's girl!" I said in frustration, aloud to myself.

I looked around to see if anyone heard me, and thankfully nobody was here.

I walked home as fast as I could, trying to avoid running into people. I walked up the steps to my door and opened it, walking in. I collapsed onto my soft bed, groaning in annoyance of everything that had happened.

I thought about it. Do I want to be his girl?

I got up an sat at my desk. "Oh well, I should work on my novel. As long as Natsu doesn't show interest in me, it shouldn't matter." I sighed to myself. I started working on my novel.

~*~ 3 Hours Later ~*~

Natsu POV

I snuck into her window, and landed softly on her bed. Happy decided to stay at the guild, but I wanted to see Lucy so I left him there to talk with Carla and Wendy. That poor cat...

There's no yelling, she isn't in her bed, and the shower isn't going. Where is she?

I looked over to her desk, and there she was. She was asleep, probably from overworking herself on her novel. Her soft face was on her desk, and her hair fell gently onto the papers and pens she used to write.

"Lucy! Wake up." It was 6pm, why was she sleeping? I walked over and shook her awake.

"Huh?" She said groggily. "What's going on, Natsu? I was sleeping~!" She looked at her surroundings. "Oh, I fell asleep working on my novel, thanks for waking me up."

"No problem, Luce! I was actually wondering if you had any food, I'm out of money, heheh..." I scratched the back of my head.

"Oh of course." She sighed. "You know what? I'm kinda hungry too, let me make some food for us."

"Yay! Thank you!!" I ran down to the kitchen, and Lucy followed. "So what are we having?"

"What do you want?"

"Anything. No, everything!"

".... Pasta it is!"

"Make it spicy!" She nodded, smiled, then pulled out the noodles for the pasta. She started cooking, then turned to me.

"Hey Natsu?"

"Yeah?"

She took a step closer to me, so we were a few inches apart. "Can I try something? I won't hurt you or anything."

"Sure," I smiled at her.

She took another step. I looked at her in confusion, but let her continue.

Her right hand went up to my shoulder and rested there for a second. Her left hand then grabbed my left arm softly, barley holding on. Her eyes never left mine as her right hand dragged down my arm, coming down to reach the back of my hand. Her other hand moved down, as she held my hands.

She studied my face, her eyes darting back and fourth, from my eyes to my lips, which were parted slightly.

Our faces were inches apart. I felt her breath on my face. I could smell her scent really well, which smelled really good. After a while she finally let go, backing away.

I was thoroughly confused, with her and my own emotions. Thoughts raced through my head faster than before.

...What just happened?

When she touched me like that, it felt different. We have touched like that before, and it didn't feel like that. I wanted to feel her, I wanted her closer, I wanted to hug her and cuddle her close to me. Her facial expression was adorable, studying me like that, and how she looked at my lips, her eyes were filled with slight want and curiosity.

My self control saved me. I was even surprised that I could hold out from leaning in a little bit more, just so our lips would touch. That's all it would take. It was so easy, but I resisted, somehow.

I don't even know why I wanted that? We are just friends. We always have been. I have never felt this was towards her before.

And why did she do it? What did she want to try? Was she looking for something? If so, did she see it? Did she see that I felt the way I did? I hoped not.

All these questions made me want to ask her why she did that and what it was for, but i knew I shouldn't.

She stepped back, looking away.

"Lucy?" I questioned her.

"Sorry, I was just... making sure of something... It's not important, okay?"

"Okay..." I said slowly.

"Want some food?"

"Yes!!"
