ADAM POV

I knew Chris and his pack had seen me, which is why I kept my pack so close. They were waiting for me to attack, I could feel it. I was sure they knew what I was here for, but Chris couldn't deny his needs forever. He would have to hunt sometime. I would just settle down and wait. I rested my head on my paws and stared through the trees at his house in the distance. My ears were tuned in so that I would hear anything going on around Chris's house. I was waiting until he went hunting. Then Miranda would be safe. I would rescue her. I hoped he wasn't doing anything too bad to her. I'd kill him if he hurt her.

CHRIS POV

It was taking every ounce of my strength to keep my wolf back when Miranda climbed into bed in just her bra and panties, but somehow I managed. I had let her use my washing machine this morning so now she had at least some clothes of her own. I wanted to be able to get her clothes from her house, but that would include leaving her alone. Something I didn't want to do. I'd just get her clothes the next time I went hunting. I knew I'd hunt soon since I was using more energy to keep my wolf back. The more energy I used, the weaker I was, and the more I needed to hunt. I sighed as she curled into my chest, her breasts pressing against me through her bra. It was making my arousal grow, and I shifted uncomfortably. My wolf was clawing his way to the surface, and I grit my teeth together as I struggled to maintain control.

"Chris." She said softly.

"Yeah?" I asked, struggling to keep my voice level.

"Can you touch me again?" She asked quietly.

"W-what?" I replied in a shocked voice.

"Like you did earlier when William got here." She mumbled. She yawned as she spoke, and I stayed still as I bit my lip. Before I knew it, she was breathing heavily as she drifted off to sleep. I let out a sigh of relief. If I had touched her again... My wolf would have gotten complete control, and I would have made her mine. I slowly pulled the sheets over her body so I couldn't see it as clearly. It helped me calm down some and I squeezed my eyes shut as I fell asleep.

As soon as I woke up, I could tell something was out of place again. I heard howling in the forest, and I growled under my breath. It wasn't my pack. It was Adam. I groaned and rolled out of bed, looking at the time and seeing that it was 2 am. I made sure Miranda was fast asleep before I took off down the stairs, running outside and phasing before I hit the trees. I ran as fast as I could until I reached the source of the howling, and I saw Adam in his wolf form in the middle of a clearing. I phased back to human at the same time he did.

"What do you want?" I growled angrily, shivering a bit since I was only in my boxers.

"You know what I want." He replied.

"You can't have her." I said firmly.

"She's my girlfriend!" He shouted.

"Not anymore." I said lowly. He glared at me and his eyes began to glow.

"You tricked me." He growled.

"About biting her? Yeah, I did. Cause it worked for a while until she had to make a dumb decision and sneak out." I said, crossing my arms.

"Because you're holding her against her will! Let her go!" He yelled loudly.

"No!" I shouted. Adam growled and before I knew it, he launched himself at me, phasing mid-air and crashing into me. I felt a sharp burning pain in my side before I heard heavy paws thudding against the ground. I heard growling and a few yelps before a black muzzle pressed against my shoulder.

You okay? James asked mentally. I nodded and slowly got to my feet as I groaned. I stumbled a bit, clutching my side as my vision blurred. I looked down at James to see him staring at me with concern in his wolf form. I grit my teeth and made my way back to the house, keeping pressure on my wound. I didn't want to look at it yet. Not until I got inside.

MIRANDA POV

I was awoken by the sound of a door shutting loudly, and then heavy footsteps on the stairs. I sat up just as the bedroom door flung open, and I gasped as Chris stumbled in and clutched the dresser for support. His hand was pressed to his side as blood seeped in between his fingers and dripped down his leg until it pooled on the floor.

"Oh my god!" I said loudly, causing Chris to look over at me. His arm moved and I paled as I saw four extremely deep gashes that started at his upper rib cage and ended at his lower back right above his boxers. They were gushing blood and he looked like he was losing focus. I got up and limped over to him, but he turned away from me and grabbed a new t-shirt.

"Chris you need to go to the hospital!" I said loudly.

"No I don't. They'll heal." He said as he pulled out a black t-shirt.

"You're losing too much blood!" I said in a panicky voice. He ignored me as he looked into the mirror next to his dresser. He glared at his reflection, and I stepped back as I saw his eyes glow orange. His forehead creased in concentration, and my eyes widened in shock as I saw his four deep gashes close up before my eyes. A few seconds later, the skin there was flawless, with no hint that the gashes had ever been there. The blood was still covering him and seeping into the carpet, but it no longer had a source. My mouth popped open.

"W-What are you?" I asked uncertainly.

"Will you still like me?" He asked unsurely.

"Chris, for some reason, I can't bring myself to hate you." I whispered. He nodded and sat on the bed, pulling me into his arms. He was still covered in blood, but at this point I really didn't care.

"I'll start from the beginning." He said with a sigh. I nodded and he stared into my eyes.

"When you were dating Adam, you told me that you always felt something between me and you. That's because we're mates, and I know I already told you that. But there's a reason I kidnapped you. A big reason. Remember those wolves you saw in the woods?" Chris asked. I nodded slowly.

"The gray one is Adam and the big black one is me. The rest of the wolves are in my pack. They're the nine boys that always hang around me at school." He admitted. I froze in shock.

"Wait, what?" I asked suddenly.

"We're werewolves, Miranda. Even Adam." Chris said softly.

"So why did you and Adam growl at each other?" I asked.

"Because he's in what you would call the 'good' pack." Chris explained.

"You're evil?" I asked, backing up a bit.

"No! No, just think of it as having different ways of life. Maybe the other pack makes better decisions, but I would never hurt you." Chris said. I nodded slowly.

"So why does everyone in your 'pack' hang around you?" I asked slowly.

"Because I'm the alpha. Their leader." He said. My heart picked up the pace as he stared at me. I was a bit frightened of him, no matter how much I wanted to deny it.

"Listen. When I took you, Adam came looking for you. He doesn't know that we're mates, since I didn't tell him. He thought I kidnapped you to blackmail him into something, but that wasn't the truth. I told him I bit you and turned you into one of us, and that threw him off for a while. Then when he saw you in the woods he knew I lied. And now he wants you again. I can't let you out of the house because he'll take you. And he won't give you back." Chris explained. I froze again.

"So he's the whole reason?" I whispered. Chris nodded and I looked away.

"Adam won't hurt me." I mumbled.

"But he thinks I'll hurt you. He won't let you around me. Ever." Chris said.

"I don't want to be away from you." I whispered. Chris smiled.

"I know. I'm just tying to keep you safe. Do you understand that now?" He asked. I nodded slowly.

"So you're a werewolf?" I questioned. He nodded and took my hand in his.

"But I'm no different than I was before." He assured me. I nodded and hugged him, and he hugged me back tightly. I pulled away when I remembered something.

"What?" Chris asked curiously.

"Who gave you the gashes?" I asked.

"Adam."
