I wake up the next morning to screaming. Blood curdling screams, coming from down the hall. I rush out of my bed, almost tripping over the blankets. I scramble out into the hall. Nobody. Nothing but darkness. I feel dizzy. I regain my footing by using the wall to move me along. I slowly walk down the dark hall. I see something. A silhouette of something. I can't make it out, but it starts moving. It gets closer; the closer it gets, the more dizzy I feel. I'm about to see who or what it is when I wake up. I open my eyes to my room, brightened from the early morning sun. I look over to my alarm clock. Red flashing numbers show 6:13a.m. I am no longer tired due to my weird dream, so I get up to start getting ready. I go out into the kitchen to get some breakfast. Something feels different. Like another presence is in the room; a presence I've never met. I ignore it, and go into my cupboard to get a granola bar. I hurry back to my room, and sit on my bed. I can almost swear there are light footsteps coming from the hall. But, I am probably just imagining these things because of my dream. Leaving behind my granold bar, I go to the bathroom to do my hair. I retreive my brush from the bathroom drawer, and look at my scruffy hair in the mirror. I start brushing it, when I notice something in the tub behind me. I slowly turn away from the mirror, turning my direction to the tub. There is a black substance on the side of the tub. I look closer. It is moving slowly. Without thinking, I touch it, All of a sudden it is crawling along my skin, stretching itself to cover my hand. In seconds it is covering my arm. I scream. It is moving more rapidly. My mother rushes into the bathroom with a worried expression. "Alexis, what's going on?!" she says. But I barely make her out. It's like this substance is taking over my body; controlling me. "My arm!" I scream. She looks at my arm, with a confused ecpression. "Alexis, there is nothing there," My vision starts to get blurry, as it starts covering my torso. It's getting harder to breathe. I drop to the floor, my mother is screaming at me but I hear nothing. All I hear is laughs. My sister's laugh.
I wake up in a hospital bed, an IV coneccted to my wrist. I am alone. I sit up, but retreat to my original position because I am overcome with dizziness. A nurse comes into the room. "You're awake!" She says. She leaves the room, and comes back with my tired mother. "Alexis!" She cries, as she comes towards me, embracing me in a hug. "What time is it?" I say. Noticing how rasby and quiet my voice is. "That doesn't matter right now, hunny." She replies, "What matters is that you're okay." My sister then walks in. he smiles at me, "Hey." she whispers. I suddenly feel fear in the pit of my stomach, remembering how I heard her laughs before I passed out. "Hi.." I whisper back. We talk about what happened, and my mother asks why I screamed "My arm!" before I passed out. I tell her it was probably one of the symptoms you get before you pass out. Even though that doesn't make much since because there was no eplanation as to why I passed out, she believes me. Truth is, even I don't understand how I passed out. Nor do I know what that black substance was.
It's time for some research.
