{Liam's POV}

I walked into the water in order to join Lily. I knew she couldn't join me on land, so I went to her.

"Lily? Could you show me your home?" I asked her, pleading. She gave me a scared and pained expression. "Lily, I wont hurt you. I just want to see your home so I can get to know you better." I explained. "Why would you want to learn more about me if you weren't going to give me away to a scientist?" she snapped. "Because, I-I think I'm falling in love with you." I whispered. She looked surprise. Suddenly she ripped her hand out of my grip, and bolted further into the ocean. "Lily!" I screamed. I didn't want her to leave. She was my everything right now. My family rejected me, and my friends all left me. She was the only one I had left. So I decided to follow her.

{Lily's POV}

I swam so fast the bubbles coming out of my nose hurt my face. But I still kept pumping my tail in order to get far away from Liam. I didn't want him seeing my home, and I sure didn't want him loving me. I was a mermaid. I'm not supposed to be loving land walkers, and luckily I didn't. Liam was nice, and I'm thankful for him saving my life, but I will never love him.

Soon I reached my cave and I laid down. I wrapped myself up in my seaweed blankets. It was nice and toasty in these waters. Far better than where my old friends moved.

I opened my eyes to glance around the warm, clear waters. Suddenly I saw someone. What? How could I see someone? This is the ocean. I made sure my tail was covered and I watched the figure intently. It was Liam! He cant swim! How did he get here?

I swam towards him and saw him close his eyes. His body went limp and he was just casually floating in the water. I grabbed him by the waist and swam towards shore. I got there a few seconds later, considering I was determined to keep him alive. I dragged him onto the shore line. I screamed out in pain as the sun burned my scales. Suddenly I dropped Liam onto the sand out of shock. Let's see, how do I do this?

I plugged Liam's nose and blew into his mouth. Nothing. I tried again. Nothing. I pushed on his chest over and over again. He spat out sea water and sat up, coughing. I quickly slid into the water. the sun still burning my scales. "Lily! You came back!" Liam grinned. "Only to save you." I sympathetically smiled, turning around and diving into the water.

As soon as I got home I fell asleep.

{Liam's POV}

I sighed and walked to the rock sitting under a mini waterfall. I began to rinse myself off, covering myself in fresh water instead of salt water. This was going to be a bad day. Oh, look! It's a full moon out!

*******

{Lily's POV}

I woke up to a feeling of burning pain in my fins. What's happening? I wasn't sure, but something told me to talk to Liam. It told me that Liam could help. I swam to the shore line, needing to sit on my rock. But when I got there I saw Liam sitting on the sand, staring into the cove. I swam up to him, scared. "Liam?" I whispered. Liam's head jerked towards me and a huge grin spread across his features. "Hi Lily. I missed you so much. I'm so glad you came back." he smiled. "Do-do you think you could pull me onto the shore?" I asked. I'm not sure why I asked, I just had a longing to sit upon the sand during the night. To stare at the sea, and observe my world from afar.

Liam shook his head yes and slid me onto the sand beside him. It was nice here. The sand was cooler than in the daytime, but not cold due to it sucking up heat from the sun. The rocks carefully laid across the water shined ever so brightly due to the moonlight. The sea otters were out at this hour, gathering sea urchins to snack on. Some of them stopped and looked at me, giving a little bark. I smiled at them and waved.  They seemed to swim around, playing games at night.

Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in my tail. What is going on?! I deserve to know! I looked down at my tail to see it giving off it's own bright light. It was shining baby blue. I felt my tail start to burn, and reshape themselves. They weren't glowing blue anymore, but they were glowing a tan color. The same tan as my skin. Before I got to see what had happened, I blacked out.
