Dating The MVP

Chapter 2

It was opening day. I was excited but nervous at the same time. Right now I sat in the clubhouse,baseball in hand staring at the wall.

Even thought I might not be pitching I was still nervous,about what people would think of me. "Hey Jessica" Stro said,walking into the clubhouse."You nervous there?".

"Of course I'm nervous who wouldn't be nervous, you know because being the first girl in the leag-".

"Jessica,your rambling"Stro said,putting his hand over my mouth.

Before I could pry Stro's hands off my mouth,the boys walked in. "Stro get your hands off my daughter" dad said,walking over to him.

"Sorry couch but she was rambling" he said,putting his hand up in defence.

"Ok,well no need to be nervous anybody,anyways here's the lineup" dad continued to talk after that but I tuned out.

*Skip to the bottom of 7th inning*

I was warming up to take over for Marcus. I was warmed up when I saw Gibby aka dad, take the ball from Marcus. Taking a sip of gatorade, I excited the bullpen. Stepping on the mound dad handed me the ball.

"Hey girl,go back from where you came from you don't belong here", a fan yelled.

Ignoring him I waited,for Russels signal. Throwing a curve ball.

After 5 pitches I struck the batter out,ending the inning.

Walking back to the dugout fans started throwing beer cans at me. One can hit me square in the head,feeling some pain I put my hand on my head.

Stumbling into the dugout ,I sat down. "Hey Jessica,you ok?"Michael Saunders asked me.

"No,I have a really bad headache from that can that hit me" I said.

"Medic" Michael called out.

Quickly the team trainer came rushing over to him "what's happening?" the trainer asked.

"She got a beer can to the head" Michael explained.

"Ok your coming with me young lady" the trainer said,pulling me up with him.

"Jessica where are you going!!" Josh yelled.

"With me I think she has a concussion!!"the trainer yelled back.

"I'm coming"Jish said dropping his glove and following us.

Once we got inside the back room I sat on the table. "Ok I want you to follow this light" the trainer said. Turning the light on I turn the other way. "Ok how do you feel?" the trainer asked.

"I feel very dizzy" I said falling over.

"Woah,easy there" Josh said,pushing me back up into a sitting position.

* A Few Hours Later *

The test results had just come in I have a concussion,meaning I'm being put on the DL.

Walking into the change room, I quickly changed. Emerging from the locker room I saw Josh standing there. "Hey you want hang out tonight?" he questioned.

"Sorry but I already made plans with Andy" I said, kissing him and walking away.

Even with this concussion I was determined to make a full recovery and live my dream no matter what. This was just a minor setback. I was going to make it back in not time flat. As for right know I had more time for both Josh and my family. Well at least till I make it back from the DL.
