You are it, he had said. We are the ending point, she had thought. They saw forever, infinity and beyond in each other's eyes.

He was her first everything, she was his true love.

Oh but that was before. That was before life, as usual, played them like strings in its web and had its wicked way with them. Two youngsters in love, still discovering life and unlocking it's doors. That was before everything went crushing down. Before distance, misunderstanding and pride busied the space between them as they made the mistake of deciding they were better off as friends.

At least, that's what she had thought. He on the other hand couldn't do it.

Although, he had tried to move past everything, walk the walk and talk the talk she had designed for them. As simple friends. But there was no way of going back to that point, after all the things they've witnessed, shared, did together it was impossible to look her in the eyes and simply shrug or smile and act the way he does around a colleague, a roommate or a family friend. He couldn't unnotice the brown dots colouring her grey eyes, the scar on her left eyebrow and the sea of freckles decorating a part of her nose and under eyes. He couldn't unsee, if that was even a word, the way his skin would hum at the mere touch from her or the way he survived under her tight hugs.

Whilst she was still testing this friends thingy, in which she had thought at first was stupider than her around a kitchen but later had realized it was the best way to keep her demons away from him, he had already made up his mind.

Enough was enough.

He had left her without really leaving her.

He had left her, his old life, hid neighborhood, his city and the country. If there was a minor possibility that he could plant a tent on another globe and live there he'd do it. Just so he could tame his heart to not beat faster at the fleeting thought of her.

If only he'd known that fate had a bigger plan for him. Him and his heart.
