It had been 2 years since monsters had reached the surface.

Small tufts of clouds drifted across the blue sky as excited chatter filled the air. Monster and human children were happily skipping on the gravel walkway leading to the front gates of a fairly new school. The brown brick walls were tall and welcoming to all students, humans and monsters alike. A Delta Rune symbol stood above the front gates, where Toriel stood, greeting all the students. A few students had stopped to study a strangely shaped hedge resembling a skull with cool sunglasses, while others raced ahead to meet up with friends.

The very first official monster and human school was originally going to be called "New School", but it was rejected. Now it is called Delta Rune Elementary and Middle School, or DREaMS for short. It is agreed by many to be the best name former king Asgore has come up with.

Frisk stood beside Toriel as she welcomed a new student, quietly watching as everyone rushed in. The crowd was filled with all sorts of people, all mingling with each other. It always seemed like there were lots of students in the school, but the school was actually rather small. Frisk didn't mind. Neither did most of the people there. It was a school that favored quality over quantity, which meant education and student/staff welfare above everything else.

Making a monster and human school was one of the first things Toriel and Frisk wanted to do after settling on the surface. Though the idea wasn't very welcomed at first, the new school was finally established. After renovating an old school building, DREaMS came to a reality.

"Yo dude!" Monster Kid called out as he ran up to Frisk. "Check this out!"

MK had a brand new prosthetic arm, which he used to high five Frisk. "I've got an arm! Isn't it cool?" He wobbled it around with a big grin. "I can do so many things now! Man, I'm so excited!"

He also had a new backpack slung on his shoulder. His old one needed to be tied to his waist all the time, and he'd always need help when trying to take it off.

"We're planning on getting another one soon, too. I can't wait to use arms for once!" He continued. "I really wanna fly a kite!"

Frisk smiled. It was nice seeing MK so happy. Everyone was getting better lives on the surface. Even when facing discrimination, the monsters always managed to get through the tough times, and be grateful for what they already had. It was the happy ending they all deserved.

Their conversation was interrupted by the loud school bell. Everyone started to head inside, carrying on with their conversations as they walked. As MK went on about his new arm, Frisk looked around the building. The walls were painted a pastel yellow, and the floor was tiled with marble. The roof was high and arched, leaving plenty of room for some simple hanging lights and square windows that let in the sunshine. There were lots of green lockers lining the walls, which were all incredibly tall to Frisk and MK. They were for the students in the higher grades. Frisk was excited to be getting a locker next school year, when she would become a middle schooler.

"Today's the day of the field trip! I almost forgot about that!" MK laughed. "You excited, dude?" He asked as they walked to Ms. Dreemurr's classroom.

Frisk could never forget today's field trip to Mt Ebott. She and Toriel had been planning it since the idea of a school was even mentioned. It was for 5th graders and above, so she and her classmates could finally go on the trip. It was a trip to the hollow mountain's base to learn more about the legendary peak.
