Avangeline's POV
Dear diary,
Tonight, I was forcefully arranged to go on a blind date by 2 weasels (my nosey best friends).
HELP,
Ava.
...............,......................................
A few months ago:
Deep breath.
In.....out.....
I am calm.....
I am grounded.....
I am not going to beat CJ into a bloody pulp.....
"IT'S GURLLLLL'S NIGHT!" A high and shrill squeal punctured through the calm meditation music currently trickling out of the small speaker at my feet.
"Oh god DAMN IT!" My eyes snapped open as 2 of the most energetic and annoying people in the world pranced into the dimly lit room.
"AVA," Kaila shrieks as she plops down on the ground next to me, her messy French braid swinging around her head. "EMERGENCY GIRLS NIGHT!"
OK time out. (*cue dramatic sound effect, everything freezes*)
Kaila and Charlie are my best friends who transferred to SCA about a year ago. Kaila is a daring, sarcastic, and sassy Asian who doesn't take crap from anyone (FUN FACT: she's quite the guy magnet and has lots of guys *cough* BLAKE AND TYLER *cough* drooling after her). Charlie is my sunny, funny, and slightly tomboyish dorm mate, who somehow manages to look like Vanessa freaking Hudgens in plaid while earning straight A's in everything. We were assigned as roommates when she first transferred here with Kaila, her current boyfriend and best friend Mikhail (a sarcastic, sporty, overprotective Blonde who's great at dishing out advice ), their childhood friend Blake (black hair, slightly scrawny, funny, witty, teases Kaila constantly), and a few other members of our squad (#squadgoalss). Well, Kaila, Charlie, and I immediately clicked after accidentally wandering into Candice Soloman's room on our way back from the kitchen and discovering her shrine to my brother Tyler (I never quite recovered from that traumatic experience- she had a freaking cardboard cutout of my twin brother in her room! Do you know how creepy that is?). And aside from that, Charlie and Kaila always manage to keep me relatively calm when it comes to CJ. That GIT...
ANYWAY. Back to the story. (*fast forwards a little bit, presses the resume button*)
I am currently pummeling a poor poor pillow as I rant, a crazed look in my eye."THAT LOUSY EXCUSE FOR A FRIEND HAD THE NERVE TO BLAME IT ALL ON ME!"
OK, I said that Charlie and Kaila kept me somewhat in check (lesson learned- never interrupt my meditation time or else...).
(*fast forwards*)
A few hours later, I somehow found myself huddled up in blankets with Charlie and Kaila and pigging out over a gigantic bucket of buttered popcorn while obsessing over The Vampire Diaries (Your basic cliche love triangle wrapped into an irresistible plot to produce the best TV show EVERRRRR!) and feeling much more relaxed. But, after polishing off our 5th bucket of popcorn, we decided to call it quits (mostly due to the fact that we ran out of popcorn and were too lazy to go down to the kitchens at this hour) and instead began to interrogate Charlie about her incredibly cute and excruciatingly lovey dovey cliche relationship with Mikhail.
"We're good," She blushes as she hides her face behind a pillow."Its been... good. Really good."
Uh ok, she's not usually that embarrassed or secretive about their relationship. On a normal girls night, Kaila and I suffer through hours and hours of ranting about their relationship (that's also when Kaila and I nap, or in rare cases, try to be "good friends", and give "advice"). After all, in the 9 months -and 13 days- we have seen so much PDA that we simply have just gotten used to it, no matter how intense or loud.
Kaila picks up on this as well, turning towards me and wiggling her eyebrows, whispering "You think they did the deed yet?"
Yuck.
Cooties.
"Fuck you!" Charlie screamed as she flung a pillow at Kaila, her face flushed a bright red.
Well, that's awkward.
"At least I have a boy toy!" Charlie protested, her face still glowing an impressive shade of maroon.
Kaila smirked. "At least I have a date every weekend to the Hills."
The Hills, a small homey village that is a main attraction for the students at SCA. I never really liked the village, it was very rustic and smelled of shoe shine, but Charlie claims that the small cluster of buildings is a "magical and amazing place where people fall in love". It provides the opportunity for couples to be all lovey dovey, for other girls to go shopping and flirt shamelessly with the handsome waitress at the Diner, and for guys to hang at the Arcade away from the adults. But for me, a sassy little single pringle (who doesn't wanna mingle), the village trips are usually spent either a) awkwardly chatting with Kaila, Tyler, and CJ's conquests on their weird triple dates (7th wheeling?), or b) trying not to gouge my eyes out as Charlie and Mikhail basically stare into each other's eyes and mutter romantic crap. So most times, I end up wandering the village with the other single pringle in our squad (my old buddy Blake, and probably my BGF- best guy friend) laughing our butts off about some random joke, or stopping in the cute thrifty stores (usually alone). But hey, I can get a date too!
"HEY! The only reason I don't have a date is because all the guys here aren't good enough for the Amazing Ava!" I protested, my cheeks bulging with pretzels (WHAT? A girl's gotta eat!).
Kaila frowned slightly, leaning over to pluck the bag of pretzels away from me. I pouted. MY YUMMY PRETZELS! Charlie and Kaila stared at my moping figure, and exchanged a look. I could practically see the wheels turning as they grinned evilly at me.
Uh oh.
Those weasels.
"You'll get your precious pretzels back," Kaila swung the bag of pretzels back and forth slowly between her fingertips, . "If..."
Uh oh. An ultimatum.
Either lose my pretzels (DON'T JUDGE, I'M BIG ON SNACKS), or be subjected to unknown torture.
I want my pretzels.
......................................................
So yup, Ava's "unknown torture" is just going on a blind date, as y'all probably have figured out by now ;)
And yes, I was writing this while eating pretzels.
...
ANYWAY
Comments and votes are greatly appreciated :)
Much love,
