Chapter 1 - Sleep

Poppys' POV:

Sleep. It was all I could think. I was sat in my maths class and my best friend Lorina Heraulte kept poking me to keep me awake. I didn't have any sleep the night before because my big brother, Liam, was having an argument with his girlfriend on the phone and it went on till 4 am and after that I couldn't sleep. I sure gave him a glare that could kill when my alarm rang indicating i am to wake up. He seemed taken back but he has been really emotinal for the past 3 days because him and his 2 year long girlfriend are having an argument about god knows what.

" Poppy "

"What?" I asked Lorina.

"Poppy I have been calling you for the past 10 minutes and you just stared into space"

I gave her our special look . It was a look that said 'I will explain in private later'

She nodded understanding.

About 15 minutes later the bell went signalling it was time for lunch. Me and Lorina went to our lockers (which were convieniantly next to each other) and then we went to the cantine to get something for lunch. I got a lasagna and an apple and a can of coke. Lorina got an ham salad and chips with an apple also and a bottle of water.

We went and sat at our usual seat in the corner of the cantine. It was a nice place because we were far away from the table that is the 'populars table '

I looked over there and saw the biggest player and most jerkiest of all jerks , Sam Ford, sat at the table with the head cheerleader sat on his knee sucking each others faces off. Like really, couldn't they go somewhere more private! They were putting dirty thoughts into my innocent mind and most importantly putting me off my food!

I turned back to Lorina and made a disgusted face jerking my head to Sam Ford and Richelle Spencer. She made a disgusted face and we both managed to eat our lunches. We put our trays away and we went outside to enjoy the last half an hour of break and to talk under our friendship tree.

We called it the friendship tree because it is where we met. We were in our freshman year and I was sat under the tree reading a book when Lorina came and sat next to me. We talked and we ended up becoming best friends.

We both sat under the tree and she looked at me and said:

"Spill!"

I told her how i was up all night and didn't get any sleep because Liam was arguing with his girlfriend and she gave me a sympathetic look. With my parents hardly ever at home because of their demanding job and my brother always fighting or sucking faces with his girlfriend, she is the only person i can turn to in a situation like this. Before my brother got his slutty girlfriend he was by my side through everything and now I rarely ever see him. It's sad sometime but i know it's not my fault he stopped paying attention to me. I am very stubbern so I refuse to be the one to apologize for being distant when he is the one ho is distant.

" So, have you spoken to Greg resently?" she asked wiggling her eyebrows with a smirk on her face. Greg is a guy I bumped into in the public library and he apologised for standing in my way and he treated me to a coffee in the cafe and he got my number and we have messaged each other every now and then but we are just friends.

" We have talked a few times, but we are just friends" I said to her.

" But he got your number he will ask you out soon " she said while standing up as the bell went of. Not even bothering to reply I pick up my bag and we go to our lockers to grab our books. I head off to biology and she heads off to french. The day went by quickly and soon I was waiting at my car that is parked next to Lorinas and I waited for her to come out. She came out 5 minutes later and she walked over to me. We both talked a little and we soon drove off to our houses. I reached my house in 10 minutes and I unlock the door, soon to realise I was going to be scarred for life at the image infront of me ...
