!!SPOILER ALERT!!

I know. I know. "Tessa, do you really need to put that every single time?" No, not really. But I want to. Just in case.

Anyway, this is another short one. It really isn't that... spoilery, honestly. I really just wrote this because I saw a cute OTP prompt on tumblr, and I----- I couldn't help myself. It seemed exactly like something that would happen. But because of the time that it takes place it should technically count as a spoiler. I'm putting comments at the end for this one to clear things up :^))

------------

Fae crouched down in the grass and brought her face close to the ground. There were a few daisies growing in the area, and she wanted to play a game she had heard kids in her class talking about. It was something you did when you had a crush on somebody. You took a flower and picked off the petals, for each petal you would say "they love me, they love me not" and whichever it landed on that would be how the person felt.

She narrowed her eyes at one of the flowers and counted the petals. It wasn't cheating, she reassured herself as she plucked it from the ground, as long as she didn't think about which one she would say first. The daisy had seven flowers. An odd number. So whichever one she started with would be the answer. But of course she would start with "they love me" even if she hadn't counted the petals, not doing so would go against the rules. If the game even had rules, that is.

With a small smile, she plucked off the first petal. "He loves me."

"He loves me not."

"He loves me."

"He loves me not."

"He loves me."

"He loves me not."

The last petal fluttered to the ground. She gripped the stem in both hands and held the petal-less flower to her chest. "He loves me!"

"Aw, do you have a crush on somebody?" Spoke a joking voice from behind her.

Her cheeks flared upon hearing the voice of a certain someone. She jumped up and spun around, her hands on her hips. "It's not nice to walk up behind people like that, you big meanie!" she retorted, glaring up at him. "And it's nothing, so go away!"

He held his hands up in mock defeat before doubling over in laughter, which only made the color in her cheeks darken. Taking a deep breath, he wiped a nonexistent tear from his eye and spoke again. "The big meanie just wants to know who you're crushing on, is all! Is he in your class?"

Fae puffed out her cheeks and averted her eyes, shaking her head furiously.

"Did you see some cute stranger then?" Amaro questioned a small grin on his face.

"No!" she snapped.

He looked down at her questioningly. "Then who could it be?" There were a few moments of silence before he spoke again. "You don't plan on telling me, do you?" He smiled and ruffled her hair when she shook her head. "I got a little carried away there, sorry for that. You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to."

She smiled brightly. "Maybe I'll tell you when I'm older!"

It wasn't that she didn't trust the game. She knew he loved her, just in a different way, and that was okay. Fae knew that if she said something he would just laugh and say that he loved her too. It was in a friendly way or in the way that Azima meant when he said that he loved them. She knew that. She knew Amaro wouldn't think it were weird if she told him that she loved him. It's normal for kids to say that to the people they look up to. After all, he was more or less her role model. And she cherished their relationship with all her heart; she didn't want anything to change.

------------

To clear things up (just a warning that this ended up being a long ass ramble);

This is counted as a spoiler because it takes place when Fae was younger. Meaning that it took place when her, Amaro and Brianna lived together. Fae is like 7-8 years younger than Amaro (he's 26 in the main story) but since Fae has a birthday that takes place in Dream Catcher I get confused about how far apart they actually are :^)

Anyway, when she was younger she had a big crush on him, pretty much, and that was the premise for this little thing. And before you think it, I have no clue if she still has any of those feelings for him in the main story because ONE, she didn't remember him for four years of her life and TWO, she's an adult and I mean... her crush on him when she was little was totally just puppy love and there really isn't much time between the time she gets her memories back and the end of the book. I highly doubt with all the stuff happening she had enough time to sort out her ROMANTIC feelings for Amaro when there were much more important things to think about (plus, if anything I think the most likely candidate for her romantic affections in the story would be Brianna)? Like, oh... I don't know... maybe figuring out if he even deserves her forgiveness after what he did to her?????? THAT'S JUST A THOUGHT THOUGH, OF COURSE!!

Ahem. I got a little carried away, so let me try to wrap this up real quick before my ramble ends up as long as the story. It ended up as long as the story.

So Amaro actually did give Fae a lot of physical affection (nothing past the boundaries of platonic love, my friend). In fact, they actually both would say that they loved each other (11/10 it was started by Fae) but it was ALWAYS in a friendly and caring way. Because I mean... if he seriously meant that he loved her in a romantic way, um.... I'm calling the police :^)) As much as my heart ships it, I gotta say that the likelihood that they ever would have gotten together in the future would be very slim (other than the most obvious reason that'll be revealed later). It really isn't because he thinks she's a child, he does think of her as an adult. AND I.... HAVE NO IDEA WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS. Just think of it like this, there's too much to worry about that even if he did develop romantic feelings for her in the future there wouldn't be time to act on them, got it?? This is what AUs are for.

Also while we're on the topic of romantic relationships lemme just drop their sexual and romantic orientations right here because reasons 8)) Fae my sweet child is pansexual/romantic (maximum shipping potential), Brianna is bisexual/romantic, and Amaro is asexual heteroromantic (I needed to stick my asexuality on somebody and my heart yearns for more asexual guys :'(( ). None of this matters in the story, honestly, but I like thinking about it anyway.
