I was at Lucinda's house, watching her make the potion that would turn Travis "uncatified" once again. She could've just used her staff, but I persuaded her that a few extra minutes of Aphmau's puns wouldn't hurt. After all, it was his fault he didn't move quick enough. Travis was in the living room, waiting for Lucinda to finish.
"Well, I'm gonna go check on the test subject." I told her as I headed towards the hallway.
"You make it sound like I've never done this before." she laughed, "Now go, don't make me lose my concentration."
"Fine, fine. But don't think I don't know about your magical high school years." I taunted her.
"Now who told you those?" she replied smirking.
"Aph, of course." I said to her with a smile.
"Makes the most sense." Lucinda nodded while she poured another ingredient into the mixture and then put some headphones on that were lying on the counter.
Finally heading to the living room, I managed to slip on the wood flooring. Immediately falling to the the ground, I expected to fall flat on my face, but before I can say hello to the floor, arms went around my waist and pulled me upright. That was super close. Speaking of close...I just started to realize that Travis had his hands on my butt and I was being a tomato. I darted away from him as fast as I could and was even redder when I pulled away. He was blushing too and backed up even more. I hated to say it, but I can't resist him with those cat ears. Especially when he was just as red as me and drifting towards me as though gravity designated me as the Sun.
Travis tried to say something, but nothing really came out of his mouth except a weak and shaky sorry. I was close to his face and he grabbed my waist slowly. He gently rested his lips on mine and just like that, we were kissing. I had about a million thoughts running through my mind, but I was only focused on one of them.
I was kissing Travis.
I don't know what I'm doing or why. None of this made sense. Now there was another main thought racing through my mind.
Why am I not pulling away?
I could barely keep my mouth closed. Travis pulled back from me like he was going to say something, but went back to kissing me in an instant, like he couldn't stop. I couldn't get myself to stop either, no matter how badly I wanted to. I had my hand at the back of his neck and was messing with the end of his hair. It was soft, just like his mouth was against mine. I finally gathered enough courage to pull away. Travis got my message and let go of me. I bit my bottom lip, savoring and dreading the lasting moment.
"H-hey..." he mumbled. We were still unbearably close and I could feel his breath against me.
"Y-yeah?" I said quivering, drawing in a sharp breath afterward.
"You're not s-startled, a-are you? " he asked me with a nervous laugh.
"Well, I wouldn't say startled. More like terrified out of my mind, but I'm fine if that's what you meant." I told him while turning away.
"Sorry."
"Don't be."
"But I am."
"You sure?"
"Not really..."
"Me neither."
We stayed silent for a moment until he told me, "I'm suprised Lucinda isn't giving a crap about this." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"She's listening to music I think..." I answered him still trying to avoid the awkwardness.
"That's probably for the best." Travis replied back to me, giving me one of his deviant smiles. I shoved him, warning him to knock it off.
"The one time Katelyn and Lucinda aren't here to protect me." I announced while rolling my eyes.
"Well, they can't protect you forever. How else can I get close to you?" he exclaimed flirtaciously.
"I don't know? How about asking first?" I told him childishly.
"Then can I kiss you?" Travis asked me with a curious gleam in his enchanting green eyes.
"Sure, but it's a little too late for that now." I replied jokingly, but cautious.
"I don't mean then, I mean now." He grinned and got closer to me. I held him back with my hand before he could try anything. He raised his eyebrows, waiting for a response.
"Travis!!! Get off of (Y/N)!!!" Lucinda playfully said and waved a potion in the air. He got off me and I had to stop myself from bursting into laughter. She handed the potion to Travis and he drank it. I waited for something to happen and nothing did.
"When will I turn back?" Travis told her a little disappointed.
"I made a quick batch, so you'll be good by morning." Lucinda answered him. I laughed in the most evil way possible.
"NO CAT PUNS." Travis yelled at me.
"Awwwww...." I groaned, but my frown quickly turned into a wide grin.
"I guess I'll see you guys soon?" Lucinda questioned us.
"Yup." Me and Travis said almost at the exact same time. We both grabbed our stuff and headed toward the door. We told Lucinda goodbye and Travis walked me home. Which I knew wasn't a problem because I lived next door. Me and him walked in silence until we got to my door.
"So...I'll see you around?" I asked him.
"I'll always be where you can find me." he answered me.
"What if I can't?" I playfully replied.
"You will." he told me smirking and walked away. I just stared at him and turned around. I unlocked my door and stopped in my tracks. I ran after Travis and came up behind him and kissed his cheek and ran back slamming the door behind me. With my face red and my hands shaking. I stumbled over to the couch after I regained my strength and groaned into a pillow and asked myself the only question I had at the moment.
What am I doing right and what am I doing wrong?
