Walking into town was a bad idea, I had a feeling something like this would happen. Shit like this always happens to me.

It didn’t matter that I had the Alphas letter, saying I could pass through without any trouble, in my knapsack.

No, these Weres simply smelt a rogue and decided to fuck my day up. I didn’t even get a chance to finish my shot before I could smell the change in the room. A change I learned over the years, was the smell of my kind.

Werewolves, or so Hollywood and fairytales called us.

I never really hung round a pack long enough to find out what they referred to themselves as. As far as I was concerned, you get in long enough to get out. I wasn’t planning on staying in this shit hole of a town for long, maybe a day or two.

I like my freedom and after 17 years of living in that cage, I broke free. No one was going to do that to me again, I would die before I let anyone or anything do those things to me.

These last two years have been heaven, being on my own. I’ve learned how to take care of myself. I wasn’t the same scared little girl I was back before the incident, hell, I was tougher than most male rogues.

The last rogue who thought he could ‘play’ with me ended up with one less nut than he had to begin with. I don’t take kindly to others messing with me, especially when all they want is to get into my pants, anyway they see fit to do so. He had it coming, when a lady says no, she means no!

Not that I’m much of a lady, but you get my point.

So it was because of my past experiences that I didn’t fancy the small group making a head towards me at the moment. I could see it in their eyes, their hate or disapproval for me. I was a rogue -the savage- who would try and slaughter them in their sleep at first chance.

They weren’t completely wrong, but I didn’t fancy killing for the fun of it. In fact, I hated it. I still remember my first, but that was a long time coming, and there was no way I was letting him walk away from that.

“You know what we do to rogues who cross without permission?”

A voice interrupted my thoughts as a large hand came round by lower back. Good plan of attack, I thought to myself. There were still humans here and I doubt very much they knew about the Weres. He had to play this stealthy, friendly even.

“You should really be more concerned about what a rogue will do to you.”

Still staring straight ahead, looking at the numerous bottles of alcohol lining the shelves. A small smirk playing on my lips at the thought of his hand so close to me, how easy it will be to grab him and bash his head into the counter top.

The sound alone of his bones breaking would be worth the fight, I was sure, I would have with the others when they came to his aid. Three of them all together, I would be lucky if I could take down the beta first.

With him out, the rest would be worthless. He was the biggest, the power coming off him was strong but not like that of an Alpha. If I could take him the others wouldn’t be an issue.

Calling my bluff, one of the others laughed and spoke with distaste lacing his voice.

“The little girl wants a fight, Dev. I say we give it to her. Teach her to respect a pack.”

His words filled me with rage….respect? He demands respect yet gives none in return. This was one thing I hated about packs, they always thought they were better than rogues but never took the time to find out why some of us lived this way.
