                    Kimberly:

        I am angry.

My mom didn't come back yesterday. And she still isn't here.

I admit, I am kind of worried about her these days. Sometimes, she wouldn't come at her usual time, but she would always be back by morning. I hope she'll be there once i come back.

Brayden followed me around today. I didn't like that. I didn't even wanted to talk to him; he was such a major player. He always seemed to be asking what's wrong with me; personally, i didn't think nothing was wrong, other than the fact that my dad died.

At lunch, i met up with my best friend, Stephanie. She is the tallest girl in our grade, with a coco complexion, dark, brown wavy hair, & didn't wear much make-up but eyeliner or mascara. My other friend, Rozalina, wore more make-up,but didn't really cake it. She was short, light brown haired, & never got tan, because she would sunburn easily.

And, my to her two best friends were twins! There names were Sonie & Sondra. They are both blonde, sort of like dirty blonde, were fairly tall, but not tall tall, & were extremely friendly to everyone.

I was the last one to sit down at our table, as usual. I've been sort of pacing around, not knowing where i was going. I felt like i didn't belong here anymore.

      "Kimberly! Guess what! I--"

I tuned out on her for a second, to notice that Brayden was walking up to me. What does he want?

I turned back to Stephanie, & smile to whatever she said. She didn't seem to notice i didn't hear a word she had just spoken, but continued on about whatever she had been talking out.

"...are you going out with him again?"

"Hmmm..?" I turned around to face her. "Who?" i asked.

She nodded her head over to Brayden, who just approached our table.

      "Hey, Kimberly?" he said.

      "What?" i asked, agitated.

"You dropped this in the hallway. Thought you'd like to have it, so..." he handed a piece of paper to me. I knew what it was. It had a poem my dad written, back when i was 7. He gave it to me onmy 11th birthday. I still have it.

A blush formed into my cheeks. "You didn't read it...." i asked.

He shook his head. "Nah, I don't read girls' stuff." He smirked, then walked away to his buds.

"What is it?" Rozalina asked. She was always curious about things.

"Its the poem my dad gave me." I shoved it in my pocket.

"You still have it?" Sonie said, surprised. "Daang, its been a long time since that day..."

I shrugged. I mean, this poem played an important part of my life. I read his words everyday. It was a long poem; front & back. By now,i have now memorized it, but i still like reading, hearing his voice inside my head saying it. It comforted me.

"Why did Brayden have it? Dude, what if he was stalking you?!" Stephanie exclaimed.

"Really, come on, Steph. He wouldn't do that," I said, but i didn't believe my words. Was he?

"Well, you guys used to date & stuff...maybe he wants you back."

I rolled my eyes. "Dream on. He's a player, for God's sake. Once he gets what he wants, he moves on. That's just how he rolls."

"A player can be tamed." She said. Obviously, she wasn't going to let this drop.

I did an exasperated sigh. "Can we not talk about him?"

"She's right," Sondra spoke up, "I mean, he's still immature. And plus, I heard he's dating Tiffany."

"Seriously? Wow, she's ugly!" Rozalina said.

I chewed on the grilled cheese sandwich, which was sort of nasty, & took up my tray. Sometimes I felt so out of place with my friends. They would gossip on who he;s dating, & i wouldinstantly feel sorry for her. Her heart was soon going to be broken.

The next day,was a Tuesday. My momstill hadn't been home yet. Ihad tried tocontact her withmy cell, but she wasn't picking up, or sending any texts back. So, today, I decided not to go to school.

I checked my phone for any new texts. I had gotten one from Stephanie, asking where i was at. My mom still hadn't responded, &i had sent a bundle of texts, & voice mails. Where was she?!

After that, I wentto the kitchen for a snack. It was 11, & i still hadn't aten any breakfast yet. I poured some fruit loops in my bowl, & read the newspaper.

Then, in came mom, streaked with mascara.

"Mom!!" I criedout. "Where were you?"

She didn't respond, didn't even look at me.

"Honey," she said softly, "I'm pregnant."
