The Exceed And The Challenge.

Natsu’s POV

I walk into the guild with Lucy next to me. I’m thinking about those attacks of hers, did she really use dragon slayer magic or were my senses playing tricks on me?

“Oi, Natsu, who’s your friend?” we are just at the top of the stairs in front of the bar. I turn to Gray and say,

“This is a friend of mine who is very dear to me and who I’ve been waiting to ask a very important question.”

 I turn back to Lucy and pull out the ring that Igneel gave me so many years ago and told me to give to the one person I truly love, my mate.

Flashback start

Igneel calls me and tells me that he has something for me. When he shows me what it is I am confused, what would I need a ring for? Igneel just tells me to keep it completely safe because when I find the one that I’m supposed to give it to, I’ll know. Because the one I will give it to is my mate.

Flashback end

Then I go down on one knee and in front of the entire guild ask,

“Lucy Heartfilia, will you marry me?”

Lucy looks at me then pulls back her hood and with a teary eyed smile says,

“Yes.”

I slip the ring onto her finger and kiss her again. It takes a few moments for the Guild to process the fact that not only is Lucy back, but that I just proposed to her and that she just said yes; but when they do though the cheering is enough to nearly blow the roof off.

Gray’s POV

I don’t believe it. The fire freak is engaged to Lucy. And Lucy is back. When did that happen?

Erza’s POV

Did that really just happen? Lucy and Natsu are getting married? This is too much for my mind to take.

Master Makarov’s POV

So my brats are finally moving on to the next stage, good for them. I look around the guild to see my kids’ reactions, Gray looks stunned, most of the other members look overjoyed for them, but what my eye caught on was Erza. She seemed frozen, that’s when she fainted. I catch her before she hits the ground, my use of magic causing everyone to fall silent.

“Wendy, could you please wake up Erza? She appears to have fainted.”

“Sure thing Master Makarov.”

The blue haired sky dragon slayer quickly casts a spell to wake Erza up. She moans and opens her eyes.

“Congratulations, Lucy, Natsu.”

I smile.

Lucy’s POV

As I look around at my guild mates I feel Mina stir. “Hey everyone, there is someone I would like you to meet.” I uncover Mina, “this is Mina, my Exceed.” Mina activates her Aera and floats up to land on my head.

“Hello.”

Wendy’s Exceed Charle flutters up and introduces herself.

“You are very pretty Mina, it’s really nice to have another girl around, I’m Charle. The blue cat is Happy, yes, that’s his name, and the black cat is Panther Lily, but mostly we just call him Lily.”

As Happy comes flying towards Mina, I call out,

“I wouldn’t get too close Happy; Mina’s young but very strong.”

He doesn’t listen and flies closer, just as he is about to talk to her he get’s too close.

“Tiger’s roar.”

A blast of sound louder than anything a cat her size should be able make emanates from Mina’s mouth crashing into Happy and sending him flying. I laugh and say I told you so while every one stares at Mina in amazement; she gets shy and hides under my cloak. Natsu looks at me and comments that he has never seen an Exceed use spells other than Aera and Max Speed, then he asks me how I got Mina.

“Mina is a Tiger Exceed, a very rare race, there are only a couple of hundred of them, they can use special magic like Mina just did, as to how I found her, Mina’s whole family disappeared, the eggs were hatching, all the others had hatched and Mina was the only one left, but something happened, I don’t know what, I was nearby and I heard screams I came running but when I go there, nothing, just Mina’s egg, it was rocking, I picked it up and she hatched in my hands, she’s been with me ever since and that was six months ago”

“Now let’s see,” I look around the room and my gaze settles on someone, I point straight at him and declare, “Laxus Dreyar, I challenge you to a battle.”
