Star Of Time

Chapter three

Normal POV

“Laxus Dreyar, I challenge you to a battle.” Lucy’s voice rang into the silence; it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, an almost first for Fairy Tail. Laxus laughs then says,

“You might want to get a bit stronger first Lucy, I’m an S-Class mage, remember, honestly, you're only a celestial spirit mage. Hey Natsu, reign in your fiancé will ya, or else she’s likely to get herself hurt.” He turns away, “I’m going on a job” he heads towards the request board.

Natsu looks towards Lucy and is startled to find she is no longer beside him; he hears a gasp and looks at Laxus just in time to see him fall to the ground gasping for air. Lucy is standing over him with an unreadable look on her face. No one even saw her move.

“How’s that for stronger, bastard, I just spent a year doing intensive training. You have no idea what I’m capable of, now fight me. In fact, I challenge you, Erza, Gajeel, Natsu and Gray all together, right now.” Gray looks at Lucy, dumbfounded and speechless. Gajeel laughs and says,

“Well what do ya know, looks like Bunny Girl’s a little bit crazy.” Erza starts trying to talk her out of it.

“Uh, Lucy that’s great an all, but are you sure. I me-” Lucy looks at Erza with a dangerous expression on her face. Then something happens that makes everyone in the guild take notice, Erza blanches and meekly says “okay.”

Laxus gets up his skin starting to crackle with lightning. “You’ve asked for it now Blondie.” Lucy walks outside, Laxus, Erza, Natsu, Gray and Gajeel following. No sense in destroying the guild. Everyone files outside, Natsu looking worried; he walked over to Lucy,

“Are you sure about this, it isn’t too late to back out.”

“Yes, it is. So get ready to fight because I am not backing down. I have a point to prove, and I am dam well going to prove it.”

“What point?”

“That I’m not the same mage I was one year ago, I’ve changed. I’m stronger now.” Natsu looks into Lucy’s eyes and sees cold, hard determination; he realizes that she won’t back down.

“Try not to get too hurt.”

“Try yourself, you won't land a hit on me.”

Lucy’s POV

I hear Cana taking bets, they are all against me. Huh, I’ll show them. I look across at Laxus, he is positively seething with rage, good, Gajeel looks ready, Gray looks like he feels sorry for me, Erza looks at me apparently wondering if I am crazy; maybe I am, Natsu watches me, just standing there. Out of the corner of my eye I see Master climb up on a table.

Bring. It. On.

“Let the match begin.”

Laxus charges at me hoping to end this quickly, “Iron fists of the lightning dragon.” I jump into the air and activate Aera. The others gasp as Natsu mutters, “I totally saw that coming, man.” As Laxus and his attack go underneath me, he flips over and cuts off the attack, then sends a full power lightning dragon’s roar my way.

As the lightning surrounds me Laxus grins, my voice stops him, “Well done Laxus, this lightning tastes good,” Everybody’s jaws drop as I devour the lightning, “how ‘bout you try my attacks on for size, Star Dragon’s Roar.” Laxus is too surprised to move and my attack hits him head on slamming him into the ground. Before he can get up I use another attack,

“Star Dragons Wing Slash.”

Swirling rays of light surround my arms as I direct the attack at Laxus. My attack finally galvanizes the others into action.

“Ice Make: Ice Geyser.”

“Reequip: Heavens Wheel Armor, Blumenblatt.”

“Iron Dragons Roar.”

“Fire Dragons Roar.”

Their attacks combine without warning into a unison raid. The vortex of iron, fire, swords and ice rushes towards me.

“Open, Gate Of The Lion, Loki.” In a swirl of magic Loki’s gate opens and he instantly knows what I want him to do.

“Lion’s Pride.”

“Star Dragons Fury.”

Our magic combines into a glowing golden unison raid that hits the oncoming charge, splitting it down the middle, it passes harmlessly to either side of us.

“Thanks Loki, go back to the spirit world now.”

I send Loki back as they come at me. Erza has equipped her Purgatory Armor and is using Benizakura, coming from behind; Gray from the left using his Cold Excalibur, Gajeel using his Iron Dragons Sword came from the right Laxus had gotten up and was coming from the front with his Lightning Dragons Heavenward Halberd and Natsu was coming from underneath with his Fire Dragons Sword Horn. As they draw closer the guild watches in anticipation.

I start to eat the light around me, so that when my opponents reach me they are plunged into a ball of darkness which I fly out the top of, leaving them trapped inside.

I decide to finish the battle in style, in a dead calm voice I chant,

“Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Supernova.”

A ball of light forms in front of my out stretched arm, I send it racing towards the sphere of darkness gathering sunlight as it goes making it even hotter, it plunges into the middle of the fray banishing the darkness with its light, revealing Erza, Natsu, Gray, Gajeel and Laxus tangled together. The orb of light hits the group, sending them crashing to the ground and its glow radiates over their bodies as it is absorbed, for a moment nothing happens, then their skin seems to shine like the sun as the light explodes out through their pores.  The resulting crater is at least twenty meters across, and my friends are lying at the bottom covered in blood. I have gone too far.

I fly down and terminate Aera. I kneel down next to Laxus.

“Oh, guys! I’m so sorry, I over did it!” Laxus looks up at me and smiles, wincing at the pain it causes.

“You win. I’m sorry Lucy, I underestimated you and brushed you off, but you truly are a mage to be respected.” Wendy rushes forward,

“I’ll heal them, just give me room.”

“No.”

Wendy looks at me in astonishment and asks, “No? But if they don’t get immediate medical attention they could die Lucy.”

“I know that, what I meant to say wasn’t: No, don’t heal them, it was: Let me heal them, Wendy. I caused it, so I’ll fix it.”

“How can you heal them?” she asks

“Back away and watch. I’ll show you.”

I raise my hands, close my eyes and softly chant.

“Oh great river of time that flows among the stars,”

My voice triples as the air around us starts to swirl

“I beseech thee to lend me thine aid,”

My boy begins to glow softly with magic power

“Grant unto me the power to turn back time,

Open the gates of change,

Let thy brilliant power flow,

Secret Celestial Art,

Ignite,”

I open my eyes and twin magic circles shine in my eyes and in the air above the crater  

“Star Of Time!!!”

As I finish the incantation I concentrate on what I want reversed, then my friends and the crater we are in glow as I reverse the damage done to both; the glow fills the crater like liquid. When the glow fades both the other combatants and the ground are unharmed. A little belatedly Jiichan (Master) declares me the winner.
