Justin: It's not fair of you to tell me that I'm acting like your dad.

Ariana: I'm not really up yet.

Justin: School starts in an hour and a half.

Ariana: Um, that's right. That means I sleep for another half hour.

Justin: I didn't realize that. Sorry.

Ariana: I don't want to fight with you. Let's not talk about drinking anymore. It's sort of like abortion or the death penalty. We have really different opinions and fighting isn't going to change anything.

Justin: I agree.

Ariana: All right. Well, have a good day at school.

Justin: This weekend will still be fun. I promise.

Ariana: You better not act like a freak again.

Justin: I didn't act like a freak.

Ariana: You're right. That's just the drowsiness talking.

Justin: You're a grumpy morning person.

Ariana: That's true.

Justin: Go and learn something useful today.

Ariana: I will. And Justin, if something happens with Jairo and Nan and you want to talk, call me. Seriously. I know that must really suck.

Justin: There you go reminding me about those two again. I hadn't started thinking about them yet.

Ariana: Just doing my job.

April 14, 6:46 p.m.

Ariana: I think I know why we're fighting.

Justin: Really? Lay it on me.

Ariana: Fear.

Justin: Fear?

Ariana: We're afraid of meeting each other.

Justin: You're afraid of meeting me?

Ariana: We're both afraid of meeting each other. Because we're total strangers.

Justin: Um. We're friends. I mean, I sort of feel like we've known each other for a long time now.

Ariana: Exactly. We might feel that way when we talk on the phone, but in reality, you're as much of an enigma to me as I am to you.

Justin: Did you study Freud in your psychology class today?

Ariana: How do you know I'm taking a psychology class?

Justin: Lucky guess.

Ariana: Well, I think it's okay that we're afraid.

Justin: Okay.

Ariana: Because fear is natural. It's part of being human.

Justin: Uh-huh.

Ariana: Maybe we should meet in a controlled setting.

Justin: You don't want me to come to your house?

Ariana: Maybe we should meet in a public area first.

Justin: Are you afraid that I'm a criminal or something? Let's not forget, you're the one who called me.
