Surely enough, he returned. But this time, with an adventure in mind. He was shocked to see me sat on my bed waiting for him. He took me to this forest a little ways from my house. It was amazing. The way the night sky was lit up with stars was breathtaking.
"You know, I watch you every night. I usually come out after you sleep but after months of watching you I just had to introduce myself. Every day, I'm by your side and you don't even notice. Every night I'm sat by your bed, making sure nothing harms you," Dan spoke softly, his voice sounding like how a warm spring day makes you feel.
"Dan, should I be afraid of the dark?" I ask, my voice shaking.
"Absolutely, Phil. You see, I'm one of the few harmless things out there. You're lucky. Lots of things happen in the dark," Dan retorted, glancing at the moon. The way his eyes twinkled under the soft moonlight made my heart jump. I decided to lie down in the grass, and he did the same. We spent the rest of the night star gazing and having deep conversations with one another. I was in no hurry to rush home, seeing as I live alone and I'm finished with high school. At about 5 am, he walked home with me and told me goodnight and watched me sleep for the rest of the night. When I woke up, he wasn't there. Maybe he will show later. He did say he was always with me during the day. I hope he returns soon.
