He grabs my hand and practically pulls me out of the house with a strong grip. I wince in pain and he doesn't even look back. He just keeps walking and walking and walking. Before you know it, we are deep into the forest. He's leading me to a.. Cabin?
"What is this place,Dan?" I ask, pulling my hand out of his.
"It's where I live," he said.
"We need to discuss something, Dan," I say, walking a bit closer to him.
"Okay. Make it quick." He responds. I take a few deep breaths before speaking.
"Who are you? More importantly, what are you?" I ask. Hopefully, I didn't sound rude. There was a bit of silence but then I heard him sigh.
"Phil, I am your guardian angel." He says, looking toward the ground.
"So you're.. Dead?" I ask, covering my mouth in shock.
"No, no. I'm alive and well. Guardian angels aren't always dead, Phil. I was sent here to protect you." He says, locking his eyes on mine.
I let out a sigh of relief and ask, "Protecting me from what..?" He waits a couple seconds before answering me.
"Harm. When I told you to be afraid of the dark, it was because I was sent here to protect you from what's hiding. That's why I brought you here. It's too hard to explain, it's too dangerous where you live." Dan said softly. I get the sudden urge to hug him, and so I did. At first, he was shocked that I did that. But after a few seconds, he wrapped his arms around me too. And I felt safe, all over again.
