Promise

Fading.

{Read this chapter while listening to the song Faded by Alan Walker. This chapter is based around the lyrics. Don't start the song until he pulls out the journal. P.S. Grab a giant box of tissues, I cried writing this chapter.}

"I'm here to see Clara Oswald." The Doctor said to the lady at the front desk. She didn't look up. "Yeah just sign in he-" She stopped talking when she saw it was The Doctor. "Morning John! You can go on back." She said with a sympathetic smile as she pointed to the North Ward of the hospital. The Doctor walked back to Clara's room with his vase of fresh flowers. It was orchids, as usual. He opened the door and the nurse looked up from the heart monitor. "Morning John. You stay as long as you like." The nurse said with a smile. The Doctor nodded and put on his fake smile. He set the new vase of orchids on the table next to Clara's bed and sat in his usual chair. But today he scooted the chair right next to Clara's bed. He listened to the all too familiar sound of the beeping heart monitor as he held her hand. His favorite sound in the whole world. He knew she was there as long as it beeped. He kissed her forehead and sat back. "Hello Clara." He said with a smile. "How are you today?" The Doctor asked. He never expected a response from Clara but he always waited just in case. "I bought you some new orchids." He said as he looked at them. "I know they're your favorite." He smiled. "Oh yes. I wrote a new one for you." He said pulling the blue book out of his jacket pocket. "I'll sing it to you." He said as he put on his glasses and opened the book. The Doctor pulled out his guitar and took a deep breath.
