Alex tried his best to type, but he kept getting distracted. Construction just outside their apartment, the couple next door was arguing again, and to make matters even worse, John was running around the room like a crazy man. Finally, he had enough.
"What are you doing?" Alex asked, spinning around in his chair to look at John.
"I'm...putting up...these photos..." John answered between actions.
"Oh. From the park?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. And a few others I never got around to hanging." John mumbled, having clothespin in his mouth for some of the sentence.
"You know, I don't think you're going to fit too many more on that one string." Alex admitted, seeing the small string dangling above John's desk covered in photos.
John stopped mid-step. "You're right..."
"I mean, aren't I always? I am Alexand— Now what are you doing?" Alex asked, seeing John take all the photos down. "I have a better idea."
"Great." Alex got up, packing up his laptop in his bag. "Well I hope you don't need help with that because I'm leaving."
"Mmhmm." John hummed, not paying attention.
"Bye." Alex left.

Alex walked into a coffee shop and immediately bought himself a cup of coffee. Luckily, the shop wasn't loud at all, only silent chatter from a few people–which was not too much for him to handle. The fact was, Alex could tune out just about anyone or anything while writing. But back at his apartment with John, there was just too many different things going on at once, and his curiosity about each of them got the best of him.
He sat down in a corner of the shop and set up his laptop. He began to work on his essay, pausing only to sip his coffee. Suddenly, there was someone else sitting across from him. He hardly noticed, until than began to talk.
"Hey, sorry there aren't really any seats and I have to get some work done... and you seemed to be pretty occupied so I figured I wouldn't bother you by sitting here. I hope you don't mind." A girl's voice said.
Alex shut his laptop and his eyes went wide. "Uh... That's alright." He mumbled. For someone who could never stop talking, he was surprisingly speechless.
"I'm Angelica." She held her hand out but he didn't see and just continued to stare. "Are you okay?" She asked.
Alex quickly nodded, blinking out of his daze. "Sorry. It's been a long day... I'm Alexander Hamilton." He shook her hand.
"Man, tell me about it. My sister Eliza would not stop singing and dancing around our room while I was working on my project. And my other sister, Peggy, kept talking on and on. She always does, whether you're listening our not."
"Uh-huh" Alex nodded, his eyes wide with fascination.
"And then– oh well now I'm doing the same thing Peggy was doing. You can go back to your work now. Thanks for letting me—"
"No, no, it's alright! I have a bit of writers block anyway. Maybe if you keep talking, I'll get some inspiration." Lies.
"Oh, alright, are you sure you don't mind?"
"Not at all." He said slowly.
"Okay. Well, you see, my father..."
Alex sat, just listening to Angelica for almost an hour before she realized she really needed to get back to her work. Alex offered to help her, and he did for a while, but soon she was almost done and she didn't have all the things she needed with her to finish.
