Effy was at her locker shuffling through books and binders when she heard a poorly executed gunshot sound.
She moved her locker door and found Dean leaning against the lockers next to her with his hand held up to his head. He had his eyes closed and his tongue sticking out.
When he finally peaked, he muttered with a bitter tone. "I fuckin hate Mondays."
Effy giggled.
"Okay, Garfield."
With a heavy sigh, Dean drops his hand lazily to his side and smiles at Effy. "Hiya. How are ya?"
Effy hummed in response as she pulled her algebra book out and began shuffling through the pages for her worksheet.
The fact that she couldn't even put into words was a red light right there to Dean.
Dean reached out and lifted her chin. He took a moment to examine her eyes, before asking if she was okay. Effy's chest tightened.
"Yeah, of course," she simply brushed off as she pulled out of his grip. Putting her focus back in her books. "Why wouldn't I be?"
Dean exhaled heavily.
"Did something happen?"
"No," she said unconvincingly.
He pressed his back against the lockers. Glaring at passing by students. "Was it Veronica? What'd she do this time?"
"Just drop it, Dean." Effy pleaded with a sigh.
"Drop it?" He scoffed, folding his arms. "I'll drop it the minute she does."
Dean glanced down the end of the hall, spotting Veronica with a group of her friends. He muttered with a disgusted tone, "this place really needs to pick up its trash."
Effy smirked. She crouched down to her backpack and began shoving the books she'd need for later inside. There was a low vibrating sound and Dean pulled his phone out from his jackets pocket. It took one glance at the screen to quickly change his demeanor
"Who's that?" Effy curiously asked.
Dean responded to the text before responding. "Astrid. She just got some refills and wants to meet after school."
Effy pressed her lips together and shoved her last book in.
"You wanna come with?"
"No thanks. I have way too much homework I've been falling behind on. I really need to catch up. I think I'll just go to the library or something for awhile, knock out some studying."
Dean groaned and rolled his eyes, lowly he murmured, "boring." And then added, "Are you sure?"
Effy nodded. She was about to say more, but Dean's phone vibrated, and his attention was snatched again.
