Veronica stared at her reflection.
In both bands, she held a hanger. She couldn't for the life of her decide between the black tube top and the maroon bralette. Perhaps pair it with a black high waisted skirt?
Veronica huffed frustratedly. She yanked off the cream top she had just seconds ago put on after ripping off the last fifteen shirts that didn't meet her criteria.
Nothing was working! She was begging to get frustrated with herself when she glanced at her clock and realized what time it was. With only a few minutes left, Veronica rushed into her closet and threw on a white crop top and a black skirt. Something cute yet simple. (And extremely easy to take off in the dark!)
Veronica glanced at her full reflection in the body length mirror. She gave a small nod of approval at the finished product. She sprayed a few squirts of her favorite perfume on her wrists and neck.
Suddenly, she heard a car horn honk in the distance. She turned down her music and waited for the honk again. This time it sounded louder, and closer, like it was just outside her window. Veronica smiled as she grabbed her bag. She quickly turned off all the lights and rushed out. The front door slammed behind her. (Thank God both her parents were out of town!)
Dean stared at Effy's name on his contact list. He had been mentally debating whether or not to text her, maybe just to see how she was doing or what she was up to when suddenly the car lights turned on as the passenger door opened. He quickly shut off his screen and shoved the device into his pocket, watching Veronica as she hopped into the car and shut the door behind her. When she flipped her blonde hair, Dean instantly got an overwhelming hint of her strong perfume.
Almost immediately, Dean offered her the sky vodka.
She took it with a smile and instantly began drinking.

When Effy walked into her second period physical science, she was surprised to see Dean sitting in Jimmy Hendricks seat by the windows. She noticed a lot of students in different seats. When she glanced at the screen she realized they had new seating orders.
She chewed on her bottom lip as she scanned the screen for her name. (Secretly praying it wouldn't be where she thought it would be—next to him.) But just as she feared, it was. She hesitantly took her seat. She quietly organized her notebook and pencil bag onto the desk, stashing her bag under her seat for safekeeping. Dean narrowed his eyes on her as she gently pushed her pencil bag into line with the tip of her finger.
