As we walked to the nearest Starbucks to get coffee, I learned a lot more than I already knew about Dylan that I was starting to feel as if he wanted to be friends. When we reached Starbucks and got our table, I asked, "So now where do you live?"

"I live in an apartment near Central Park," he replied.

"Me too! Which apartment?!"

"740 Park Avenue"

"What?! What's your door number? Mine is 8."

"Mine is 12." he said, without any surprise, only a slight smile, as if amused.

"Oh wow! We live so close to each other and we didn't even know it!" I exclaimed, surprised.

"Actually, no, I have been watching you because I sensed a familiar, beautiful face but couldn't quite place where I have seen you. Until recently, I looked through our yearbook and remembered how you used to have a crush on me." he smirked, and I could feel his ego level rising,

I felt my cheeks turn a light shade of red as I tried to hide it. "Are you hitting on me?"

"What if I was?" he grinned.

I couldn't reply to that, for I was very shocked because the thought that Dylan Merrick, my former crush, is finally making a move on me?! Could life get any better?! I know I should be happy but I was too shocked to reply.

Dylan's face suddenly started to blur away and I heard a voice calling:
"Vanessa! Wake up! Girl, if you don't get up right now, I'm gonna have to tickle you. I know you get ticklish easily."

I turned around while closing my eyes as I felt hands tickle my sides. I gasped and had a laughing fit while saying, "I'm up! I'm up!"

I sat up and looked at my friend, Hannah. She was wearing a salmon-colored mini skirt with a turquoise sleeveless crop top, paired with a black converse.

"Wow, you look really nice.. Going somewhere?" I asked, smiling at her.

"Yup, I have a blind date in half an hour. Stephanie set me up with him.."

"What? Stephanie Anderson?! Why is she helping you? She didn't even acknowledge our presence in high school.. Especially, you! She would bump into you and wouldn't even apologize for it. I advised you to stand up to her, and when you did, she pretended not to even hear you.. Why is she even bothering to help you now? When your going for the date, be careful.. Because we know how she used to treat us.. She could just be using you.. Just be careful.. I'm just looking out for you.."

"I know.. I know.. Don't worry about me.. She told me a lot about him.. I honestly think she changed since high school. She has been more nicer to me and given me a mani - pedi to prepare for the date.. Sorry for not telling you about it first.."

"It's ok.. I'm just looking out for my best friend. Wait, is Katie up yet?"

"Nope. She is still sound asleep.."

"What?! So you woke me up without waking her up?!"

Hannah nodded and giggled.. I gasped as I threw a pillow at her. She screamed as it hit her face. "Bulls-eye!" I shouted.

Hannah ran out the door into Katie's room, while I chased her with two pillows in my hand.
As we entered, Katie woke up, startled. Hannah ran to the other side of Katie's bed and asked her to "protect" her from my pillow throws.

Hannah suddenly looked at her watch.

"I gotta go meet my blind date.. Bye.."

We yelled "bye" at her as she left out the front door.

"I'll go make breakfast.. Do you want some waffles?" I asked Katie, who seemed more awake now..

"Sure" she replied as she stood up from her bed.

I went back to my room to make my bed and take a shower once I brushed my teeth..

When I came out of the bathroom in my towel, I saw Devon sit on my bed.

"Um.. How did you get in here? Get out, I have to change!" I yelled at Devon, tucking tighter on my towel.

"Relax, Katie let me in. Apparently, you have a spare room key on top of your room door frame. I just came to ask you about your plan for the day." Devon reasoned.

This is Devon Hawkins, he is my best gay friend.

"Alright, now can you go out, please? I need to change." I pleaded.

"Ok, but make it fast cause I didn't have coffee this morning," he said, as he got up and left the room.

"There is some left in the kitchen." I called after him.

Assuming he heard, I shut the bedroom door and proceeded to grabbed a blue crop top and paired it with some ripped jean shorts from my walk-in closet. I took my makeup bag and walked back into the bathroom. I quickly got changed and applied some mascara and lip balm. Brushing my hair, I walked into the living room.

When I entered, Devon was already situated on the kitchen island, talking to Katie next to him and drinking his coffee.

Upon my arrival, both looked up and greeted me with a "hey" and asked where I wanted to go.

"How about we start in Times Square and let's see where it takes us." I suggested.

"Alright, let's go." Devon replied, as he grabbed the keys and walked out, with us trailing behind.
