Blake takes me to the nurse's office, and she directs him to put me on one of the beds. He sets me down carefully and the lights are starting to hurt my eyes, so I close them. The teacher and Blake are talking to the nurse telling them what happened. The nurse comes over to me and Blake and my teacher leave.
"Hello miss Sapphire." she says putting on gloves. I open one eye to look at her and I do a weak wave. "Can you tell me anything you feel right now?"
I groan for a second quietly. "Headache, kind of dizzy, the lights hurt my eyes, I'm kind of nauseous and I just want to sleep can I stay here instead of going back to gym?"
"Oh, my okay, I think I'm actually going to call your parents to come get you. I think you might have a mild concussion so I'm going to give you some restrictions. No electronics, no physical activities, no long tests just small quizzes. You will have to come back weekly until I give you the clear and we will work you up the physical activity scale. I'm going to email your other teachers about these restrictions so that they give you time to make up work." The nurse walks away and I close my eyes.
"Honey lets go home, okay?" I hear while someone puts their hand on my shoulder waking me up. I try to open my eyes, but they hurt so bad. I just nod and sit up. My mom leads me out to her car, and I fall asleep in the passenger seat. As we get to the house, she grabs my stuff out of the back and walks me to the door. I crawl up the stairs to get to my room. I crawl into bed, and she brings me water.
"I'm going to be downstairs making dinner. Blake and his family are coming over but if you're not feeling up to it, I'll bring you your dinner." She says and I just give a tired thumbs up. She leaves my room and I doze off for a while.
...
A couple hours later I hear a small tap on my door. I open my eyes to see Blake in the doorway with a plate of food. "Hey Saph, how are you feeling?" he asks looking worried.
"I feel like a ball smashed into my face." I say with a small hint of attitude.
"Hey, it wasn't me so you can't be mad at me." He walks over and sits at my desk and puts my plate down. "Did your mom tell you the news?"
"What news?" I ask propping myself up on my elbows.
"Well, my family is going away for 6ish months on a business trip and it's not worth changing schools for one school year, so I'll be staying in your guest room." he says with a smirk.
"Oh my gosh, I get to live with my best friend for the school year?!" I say getting excited.
"Yes, well I'm going to let you rest. Are you going to school tomorrow?"
"No clue, if I feel like this tomorrow probably not." I say bummed. I actually like school.
"Okay, well feel better." he says standing up and walking to my door.
I watch him leave. I look over at the plate of food. My appetite isn't even in existence. I roll onto my side. Wow my best friend is going to live with me for most of the school year. We already experienced a lot of life together, and we always hung out at each other's houses, so this isn't going to be much different. I'm so excited because I won't have to feel like an only child now.
