While You're Out (Donnie)

My dad is so stupid.

Huh. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say in my life.

Anyways. I can't believe he followed me. And he didn't trust me either! I told him there was nothing going on and I meant it!

"Everything okay," Marcus asked as he got into my line of sight.

"Huh? Oh. Yeah."

"You've been acting strange since the thing with your dad. You sure you're okay?"

"I just feel embarrassed. He didn't really trust me and he made it awkward in front of my friend."

"Don't worry. Your dad isn't going to scare me away."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. Besides, I think he has a right to protect his only daughter."

"Huh?"

"I kinda know what it's like."

"What do you mean?"

"My parents passed away in a fire and my brother and his wife were in a terrible car accident. They passed away too and I went to live with my grandma. I ended up taking in my niece and she became more like a daughter to me."

"When was this?"

"Around the time I met you. She's about four and she calls me Dad."

"You're okay by that?"

"I think it's kinda cute. When she's older I'll tell her the truth but I want to spare her feelings right now. I wanna protect her."

"That's sweet."

"Yeah. It's what my brother would have wanted. But my grandma isn't looking too good lately and she may leave soon too. Then j don't know what will happen."

"Will you have to stay with anybody?"

"If Grandma can hold out for just enough time where Ally can get into pre-school then I'll be good. I'm technically supposed to be a senior. I was held back because I let sports over take my studying a couple times. If she can hold on for another three months then I will still be able to take care of Ally and I'll be able to keep at school here."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Don't be. You should feel honored. No one can make me open up so much."

"After all the years I've known you, you're still a stupid jerk."

"No. I'm just a big teddy bear who loves to tease the girl of his dreams." He smile until he fully processed what he said and he blushed. "I-I-I-I mean! Uh..."

"Marcus? Do you like me?"

"Maybe. Why? You aren't mad are you?"

"No. I think it's cute. Because I like you too."

"Then in that case. (Y/n) Hamato, will you go out with me?"

"Sure stupid."

"How mean." He deadpanned before we both laughed lightly and continued our time together.
