Think Sincere
How painful is it to hear the truth? What kind of satisfaction does someone get from speaking there mind. Why not keep it to themself, save the breath and shut there mouth? if only we could think before we speak, and think benignly? Then maybe we could live in harmony. Such as Bejamim Franklin would want to live a life that is simple. One of his 13 virtues, sincerity. He stated "Use no hurtful deceit, think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly," but it has changed drastically over time, and it should be rewritten as "Think out loud to speak your mind, to 'help' others. Say things without thought before hand."
Words may hurt like Patrick Henry would say "We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth." In today's society, its not only the painful truth its lies, and rumors. Cyber bullying is a useful example on how Franklin's virtue has changed. Cyber bullying and teenage depression has severely increased over generations. All because we don't speak with sincerity. We are now insidious and hide our hurtful deceiving words behind the keys of a message board. "Cyber bullying is an aggressive intention and act that is carried out by a group or an individual by using electronics to contact repeatedly and over time against a victim who you choose and who cannot easily defend themself." A student at CSU, in the upward bound projects stated. "Cyber bullying using technology such as phones, via Internet and chat rooms to bully others and not face to face." We have become treacherous. We are guilty, by fault for not thinking. We could think and speak with sincerity, like Franklin would want, but we don't even think before we speak.
